    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Klyazma River is a river in the Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Ivanovo and Vladimir Oblasts. It is a left tributary of the Oka River – the right tributary of the Volga River.
That’s why it was the main road in the Middle Ages between the main Russian Cities.
There is the famous Old Bridge over the Klyazma River in Vladimir.

    Golden Gate

    by Kuznetsov_Sergey Written Feb 22, 2015

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Golden Gate was constructed between 1158 and 1164. It is the only (albeit partially) preserved ancient Russian city gate. A museum inside focuses on the history of the Mongol invasion of Russia in the 13th century. Unfortunately when I was there the Gate was under reconstruction but the Museum was open.

    The Water Tower

    by aliante1981 Written Jan 2, 2004

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

It was first built in the end of the 19th century, and completely rebuilt in the year 1912. it is made of red bricks in 'pseudo Russian' style, it has a form of a cistern and widens on the top. The Tower is a convenient thing to see, too, as it is situated just next to the Golden Gates.

Founded by Vladimir prince Andrey Bogolubsky in 1158 on a high hill next to Klyazma river, the Assumption Cathedral was intended to show the power, importance, and might of the Vladimir-Suzdal principality. The Italian Aristotel Fioravanti, who constructed the Cathedral in the Moscow Kremlin, is said to have sought inspiration in this gem of Russian architecture.

    The Golden Gates

    by aliante1981 Written Jan 2, 2004

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Golden gates were built at the western entrance to Vladimir in 1164, when Vladimir-Suzdal principality was under the rule of prince Andrey Bogolyubsky. Funnily and unexpectedly enough, there's a golden-domed church on top of the gates. They were to decorate and protect the city of Vladimir - then one of the mightiest of Russia.
