Before the trip we were adviced not to ask the directions from passers- by,because it's always wrong! We decieded to check & got lost! But it was good we had a map!So always take a map with you & follow it!

If you are driving and you are crossing the hydro-electric dam (between Volgograd and Volzhskii) DO NOT stop your car under any circumstances, do not take pictures.
Even if there is a traffic jam (entirely possible) do not get out of your car on the bridge.
See those militsioners with sidearms? They're not just for decoration.
Russia is on high terrorist alert and this dam is considered a prime target. Just how any terrorist would blow it up with anything short of a nuclear bomb beats me, but that's the way it is.
Be cautious, especially if your car has foreign or non-local plates.
