buy from the Central Market Building for all your food, great bread vendor right inside the front entrance to the the right and is on the left next to the cigarette vendor, has flat bread for 8. rubles the size of a large dinner plate. Not a very big stand just alittle vendor with a glass front case. The lower level inside the market has lots of vegetables, eggs and fish, upper level has meat and cheeses and vogurts, spices and some vegetables, don't miss going inside go early before the meat and fish starts to smell from sitting out without refrigeration, wash everything in bottled water with a little juice of a lemon to wash the chemicals off! You will be told they have the best natural food but they don't know how it is really grown. You can buy without knowing any Russian but learn a few words it makes it so much easier! If you take a picture inside the market be fast we got the talk by one of the local miltary men there, we had heard we weren't aloud to take pictures inside after taking a couple of fast ones we were stopped and 'questioned'.

eggs 20 rubles for 10 eggs, flat bread 8 rubles plus a few kopecks for a plastic bag. frozen chicken (hen) for 69 rubles, fish for as little as 29 rubles lots of vegetables cheap cheap cheap!Remember you are buying in liters, kilograms and not in ounces and pounds. Best selection go early!

there is a few nice shops even if they look expensive (they are to locals) but you will find some nice items not much in finding local made things at the Central Market all western clothes and shoes, but they do have these nice house slippers for 30 rubles (alittle over a dollar in U.S. money) everyone in Russia wears them in their house! but in the little side shops and small street vendors there were some interesting items. I found the little egg stack dolls that were made into just a magnet for 25 Rubles in a little shop, they packed well for the trip home and I purchased about a 10 of them for great little gifts! Treat your Rubles like the Russian! Don't handle them in an open area flipping throught the bills. Remember they are not used to people that have alot of money, be careful and don't just throw your money at them, your rubles will go alot farther if you spend wisely shop at different vendors before purchasing an item it could be at the next vendor for a few rubles cheaper!

Buy a pair of Russian slippers for 30 Rubles, buy small packable unbreakable lightweight gifts. We had some people give us gifts that where handled really rough on the trip back at the airport! You can find postcards at the Moscow airport for about 48 cents we couldn't find any in the town of Voronezh, so buy postcards at the airport had some other nice last minute gifts at the airport just as cheap as the street vendors, stacking eggs dolls 24.00 U.S dollars, just shop at a few different shops in the airport before buying we found one store had pop for 2.50 a small bottle and another one had it for 1.10 a bottle.
