San Marino Warnings Or Dangers

Tasteless beer

I am not talking about bad tasting beer, but of some bottles which I would not buy – no matter how it tastes. Among the thousands of souvenir shops, there is at least one selling beer and wine with the faces of famous personalities. Some were popular persons like pope John Paul II or Che Guevara, but some of them were the most gruesome dictators of mankind history. I can’t prevent you from buying this stuff, but if you want to buy one of these bottles, first think of what these people have done to millions of men, women and children. And if you are travelling onwards to Germany and buy a Hitler bottle, you can get some serious problems with german authorities… So please take another souvenir from San Marino, choice is big enough to find something else you like.

Beware of the cliffs!

We parked at the last parking lot, right at the top of Mount Titano. There is a path leading from there, going to the fortifications. The path goes along the edge of the cliff, plummeting sharply down 700 metres. I hardly saw any fence at all. It's mostly important to beware if going with children. They cold wonder out the path, so be sure to hold their hands.

There are no real dangers to speak of, but Sammarinese drivers do not slow down when they go careening around bends in their climb to the capital on Mount Titano. Be advised, the road that was straight most of the way through the country suddenly twists and turns as it nears the capital. Slow down, take it easy, and keep in mind that the natives won't. Also, be advised that the Sammarinese seem blissfully indifferent to lawsuits, and that some of the scenic views do not have any railing between you and them. Take care, especially with small children. Finally, be advised that at a certain point, cars - except for the cars of government officials - cannot go into the city. Expect that you might have to carry your luggage at least part of the way to your hotel.

If you ask many many times to your friend to take you here and if you have friends like me and Augusta, you might risk to be thrown from that rock:)) (with friends like these why would anyone need enemies?!)

If you have fear of height.. may be better for you - don`t look downhill.... :)the panorama is wanderful - and not in every place are the barriers - so be carefull - specially when you took pics...
