Shopping in Europe

by dr.firas

If you are interested to buy some gifts for your friends and family, Versailles shops are very good solution for this, many souvenires, old pistols, swards, pictures, little statues, and lot more you can find in Versailles, the prices are resonable! Murano and Burano are wonderful little islands near Venice, they are famous in making glass work of a great and beautiful quality, Sara told me this is the typical thing of the city and it is great to buy such a wonderful souvenir as a gift from Venice!Prices though could be exaggerated, so try to negotiate! Euro

BHV: Tool time!

by b1bob

BHV is a French home furnishings store, rather like the American Home Depot or Lowe's. All manner of tools, home furnishings and seasonal decorations. Luc and I found an artificial Christmas tree, lights, and ornaments. The prices were reasonable.

Namsce Bazar: handbags!

by margaretvn

This is a little studio where a man and wife work designing and making the most lovely leather handbags and purses. If you buy they will alter the straps of bags to fit you personally. They do not follow you around the shop/studio but allow you to wander around looking. Then they take the time to explain the working of leather and how to look after your bag/purse handbags - leather goods in Itlay are good. I paid about 100 euros for this lovely backpack

H & M: Ahh... the glories of shopping

by tyerks

H & M is my new favorite store. They are ALL OVER in Europe, and surprisingly, are pretty cheap for really good fashion! They've got men's clothes, women's clothes, and sometimes children's clothes. Sadly enough, there isn't one where I live, but they do have stores in New York and on the east coast. They also just opened two up in Chicago. I smell a road trip coming on. I fell in love with this store in Europe. If you see one, check it out! reasonably priced, fashionable clothes depends on what you buy, anywhere from 40 euro cents, to 40 euros

GERMANY - for cheap purchases

by globetrott

Germany ( and partly also Austria ) is the cheapest place to buy some additional equipment, films, cameras, fuel (Austria), beer, liquor, spirits.... There are many shops in Germany and the competition makes really low, and sometimes really ridiculous prices. I bought my films for Russia in Hamburg :AGFA 100 ASA 36 exp. INCLUDING procession for 2,- €This was an offer, right in July/August 2002 - great films, NO old ones - have a look on my Moscow-pagesThese prices do not really make a lot of sense, but will get customers into a shop......NO sense for the shop - great value for YOU !!

RUSSIA - Moscow - The G.U.M.

by globetrott

The GUM - situated directely on the Red Square - was already a sort of " Communiste shopping-paradise " during the old CCCP-times.And besides its architectonic charmes and beautiful fassades and great glass ceiling - it is still one of the best shopping-centres in Moscow. You will find shops of all major western companies there, as it seems to be simply a Must, to have a shop inside the GUM.Have a look for the great glass-roof that makes a great climate inside the building even if it is much too hot outside.... Its a rather expensive place, but you have the best choice - and its open daily even at the weekend.

Corte Inglés: Corte Inglés

by b1bob

Corte Inglés is a Spanish department store. In the downtowns, it is a traditional department store. In the suburbs where there is more space, the Corte Inglés is a hypermarket, rather like Carrefour in France or the American Wal-Mart Super Centre. The question is what NOT to buy.

Käthe Wohlfahrt: Christmas shopping the year round

by b1bob

Käthe Wohlfahrt is a year-round Christmas shop in downtown Rothenburg ob der Tauber. They prohibit photography in the place, but the sign is so small or so poorly put that you don't see it until after you've taken the photo. All manner of Christmas ornaments and crafts. The prices were reasonable.

Buy lots of souvineers

by Packerman

Buy anything that will remind you of your trip decades later. Don't buy stuff to impress others or for any other reason than YOU like it and will bring back fond memories for YOU. I like to collect things so I have bought calendars on every vacation along with refrigerator magnets, keychains, and silver spoons. All these things are inexpensive and I can look back one day (even this day) and reflect on the wonderful adventures I was allowed to take part in. Thank you God! If you have some time, do a little comparison shopping. Usually souvineers in a city are all over the place and they are all the same, so don't pay 20-50% more when around the corner the exact same keychain costs less.
