Great coffeehouse with a style for everyone. Every room/space looks different, some stylish, some more comfy, and an old fashioned room for a private party. There is a place for children to play and a space outside.
Favorite Dish: We had a tastefull Italian sandwich.
This restaurant was such an excellent surprise!!! Before I traveled to Banska Stiavnica, I read guidebook after guidebook and I still had no idea that this place was here. I only discovered it after wandering down a side road to go explore. :) This is no ordinary brewery and there are only 2 places in Slovakia where you can get their beer: Bratislava and Banska Stiavnica. The special thing about this beer is that it's smoked and has a really unique taste. On the menu, you can select light or dark beer and choose from a variety of foods that go great with beer. Items on the "snack" list include onion rings in beer shortcrust pastry, fried cheese croquettes with jalapenos, and roasted almonds. Marinated spicy camembert, marinated sausage, beef and pork kebabs with beer sauce, creamy garlic soup, filet mignon with bacon and cranberry sauce, roasted duck with red cabbage, and vegetable salad are all main dishes. There is one item on the dessert menu (pancakes with raspberries and whipped cream), but you will not want to eat anything sweet here. I absolutely recommend this restaurant, since this was the only place I ate at the entire weekend I was there. :) You can also buy their beer and bring it home, although it is a little expensive. For a handmade wooden carrying case and about 10 bottles of smoked beer (in handmade bottles), it costs about 50 euros.
Favorite Dish: My favorites were the smoked dark beer, Hans bread (baked bread with cheese and bacon), onion rings, and the traditional Slovak sausage baked with dark beer sauce.
Excellent quality, and well priced. Nice locale. Dont go for the tomato soup if you don't like sugar (which is added). I recommend the `halusky s brinzy' (gnocchi with goat's cheese and lard), costs 119 SKK (with 1/2 litre of beer and bread).
