A number of budget flight operators fly to Bratislava from many EU cities - e.g. ryanair, skyeurope, jetair. The city center is a 15 minute drive by taxi ( should cost about 200 slovak crowns = ca $7, beware if they try to rip you off, make sure the taxameter is turned on). Or you can take the bus no. 61 straight from the airport to the main railway station.

I would not have visited Bratislava if it had not been for a cheap RyanAir flight... when you find a flight Milan_bratislava for 58 cents plus taxes it's hard to resist. Many other low-cost airlines are flying into Bratislava... most people use it to then visit Vienna, but its Slovak sister is worth a visit, too. It may be less beautiful, but for sure it' less crowded.

I got a roundtrip CSA ticket from Prague for about 120.00USD including taxes. Even got a meal on board. CSA only uses prop planes to Bratislava. Other cheap options include:
Easyjet-London Luton and Berlin Schonefeld. Austrian flies to Brussels, Paris, and London Gatwick.
Sky Europe goes to lots of places and is cheap.
MO MONEY
Lufthansa serves maybe Munich with prop planes.
Air Slovakia-fewer flights
Slovak Airlines-Fewer flights

Forget flying to Vienna with low cost airlines its cheaper to go straight to Bratislava Airport. You are out of the airport within minutes. The 61 bus goes to the main railway station and there are various buses or trams to other parts of the city from there. A bus ticket costs 18 SK and don't forget a 9 SK half price ticket for luggage. There is a ticket machine just outside the airport on route to the bus stop.

I went to Bratislava by a Ryanair flight from Frankfurt, Germany. From the airport, there is a bus, directly stopping outside the terminal, which will take you inside the city in just 15 minutes.
