by acemj On the way up the hill to the castle in what was once known as the Jewish Quarter of the city, you might notice this skinny, yellow Rococo building. Inside you'll find the city's clock museum which highlights many timepieces made in the 18th and 19th centuries, mostly by watchmakers in Bratislava. Many of the watches are exceedingly flamboyant in design making them interesting to look at in the museum setting, even if you wouldn't dare wear one on your wrist. The museum is open from 10am to 5pm and 11am to 6pm on the weekends. Leave a Comment Address: Zidovska Street

by acemj Down by the Danube, you'll find the Slovak National Museum. The stone pillar outside is capped with a statue of a lion and inside the museum you'll find all kinds of archeological and zoological exhibits. This isn't really the type of museum that interests me, so I didn't visit. However, I have since read that there are also small exhibits on Slovak art as well as inventions, which might be interesting. Open Tuesday - Sunday from 9am to 5pm. by micas_pt This lovely well kept yellow building houses the Clock Museum. The house itself is Rococo style and was built in 1760. It is so narrow that each floor only allows a tiny room. The Museum holds a collection of clocks and it’s opened every day from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Unfortunately i arrived too late and was so upset, … being a watch lover i’m sure i’d love this place. So now i have the perfect excuse to visit Bratislava again: how could i miss Clock Museum? It’s a must see for me, so i will surely go back!! Leave a Comment

Slovak National Gallery by PetraG Bratislava has some interesting Museums. One of them is the Slovak National Museum, with naturalist expositions. The Slovak National Gallery, with Slovak Gothic and Baroque art. The Museum of Jewish Culture, with valuable fragments of a vanished population. And the Museum of Archeology, among others. In front of the Slovak National Gallery you can find a monument remembering the date when the Cechoslovakian republik was founded. The federation of Slovaks and Czechs lasted until 1993, when both countries peacefully agreed to divide the federation. Two new European nations were born: the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. Currently Bratislava is the biggest city in the Republic, with more than 450,000 inhabitants, and the cultural, economical and political capital of the country. The Slovak Nationalist movement was founded in the 19th century, Ludovit Stur, the codifier of Stantard Slovak played a key role in the movement for Slovak National Freedom. The current name of Bratislava was introduced in 1919. This huge museum features the usual Natural History, Zoological and archaeological exhibitions. However, there are also some interesting art and photo expositions, and an excellent exhibit about Slovak Inventors. Open All Year: Tuesday - Sunday: 0900 - 1700 (closed Monday) Leave a Comment Address: Vajanskeho nabrezie 2Phone: 00421-2/59349111

by vivian76 This is a very nice museum of modern art - actually the first privately owned in Eastern Europe. Apart from graphic works, collages and sculptures, you can also see and have fun with the Dobes's kinetic objects exploiting light. A person will come with you and switch on some of his compositions. You can have real fun but just watch not to get sick of swinging infront of the objects to see how they change because of the light;) At the exit you'll be probably asked to write something in the visitor's book, don't refuse:) The entrance fee is only 1 euro (45 Sk). The Slovak National Museum is located in a large building from the 1930s. It serves mainly as an administrative headquarter for all the smaller museums in Bratislava and around the country. But of course, it also has its own exponates. The more classical exhibitions from the Museum of Natural Science and the Museum of Archeology are located here. In front of the museum, you will see a monument dedicated to the foundation of the first Czechoslovak state in 1918. The state existed until the velvet divorce from 1992, with an interruption during the WWII years when the country was occupied by Nazi Germany. shep by Skipka This small and sweet building is right on the way from castle and you can stop there for a while and listening to the sound of watches. :) Yes, there is a museum of approximately 60 watches in collection of various siye and shape and some of them are still in use :) Most of them were made in Bratislava (Pressburg at that time) and Bratislva was a great cente rof clockmakers at that time in old Austro-Hungarian Empire. It is very small inside so don't go with a big tourist group inside ;) you should feel like picked cucumber then. And there is also a souvenir's shop but very expensive. So if you want to see more and save some money, buy souvenirs in the centre of the city. Opened Tu-Su 10 am - 5 pm (May-Sept) Sa-Su 11 am - 6 pm (May-Sept) Tu-Su 9.30 am - 4.30 pm (other season) Leave a Comment Address: near that strange bridge of UFO settlementDirections: Stare mesto

Inside Primate's Palace is where Napoleon and Emporer Franz I from Austria once signed a peace treaty so it has a bit of history to it. There's also some English tapestries inside and a fountain of St. George outside. To get here walk through the town hall courtyard from Hlvane nam.
