Favorite thing: This castle was one of several 13th century Hungarian strongholds between Piestany-Trencin.
In the 17th century, a mad Hungarian countess called Elizabeth Bathory lived here who murdered & tortured over 600 peasant women...
Since a fire in 1708, there's not much left of the castle but it has great views; The surrounding area is a nature reserve !
On the left is the photo of the castle (ruins) taken by me ! Still intact, the walls...The Direction :
By car, Cachtice Village is 7 km south-west of Nove Mesto;
Visnove & the castle are 5 km from there on a side road south of the village !

You can see the entrance of the castle on the photo...Next, we continued to TRENCIN.
There's a castle in Trencin waiting for us ![Please click on 'Trencin']

Eventually, we had to go out from the castle ruins & off the hill to continue our journey in Slovakia.
There was a man just outside the castle ruins & we asked him to take a photo of us.
Thanks Marek ! I would always thank you for the sheer excitement that we took to reach this place in rural Slovakia !

Still as if not getting enough of the photos around the castle, I took another photo !
It makes me wonder though that although this castle ruins are not kept, but the walls or rather the stones are white !

Same spot as the above photo but I wanted to have me & Marek captured as well...I had to use the self-timer on my camera for this purpose.
Thinking how the photo would turn out.
Well, you could see now, it turns out excellently !
