Great place for rest and for historic touring.

Go as far east as you can. The towns are charming, people friendly, and the ruins are spectacular. It was amazing to wake up each morning to see the castle on the hill through one window and the presidential palace through the other!

When you are visiting Slovakia you should definetely see at least one of the castles. If you are in the eastern Slovakia, make your way so that you see 'Spissky hrad', or the Spis castle. It is a ruin of an old castle situated on the top of a hill. The scenery from up there is worth to see.

You absolutely must take the Tatranska Lomnica - Skalnate pleso cable way. If it's a sunny day, than the ride's fantastic. If it's not a sunny day, the ride is still fantastic. You can take it all up to Lomnicky stit from Skalnate pleso. Perfect. My fondest memory of Slovakia was the Tatransky narodny park... Its nature is perfect and everybody was being so friendly...

Visit Spissky Podhradie (Spis Castle) in Eastern Slovakia. Imagine beautiful, rolling hillsides, with crops, cattle, and little haystacks. As you crest one hill, a massive castle rises up out of the plains, perched atop a granite outcrop. It demands your attention from every angle, and is great fun to explore. Take some water for the climb to the entrance. Long hours spent sitting in cafes in the myriad of gorgeous sunny squares and plazas in the 'Old Town' of Bratislava. Wandering the cobblestoned streets in the early hours of the morning and feeling like you have stepped back in time.

If you're visiting Slovakia, I strongly suggest a trip to the Eastern part of the country. The cities of Levoca, Kezmarok and Kosice are really very nice. The castle in Spissky Podhradie is really impressing and it's UNESCO listed. Reach there is very easy from Levoca (by bus) and cheap Slovakia's beer is very cheap and good. That's one the things I miss most

Take a walk up to the castle!...

by riika

Take a walk up to the castle! Not only is the castle itself beautiful, but some of the views from there are as well. You must also take a walk through the old town area because it very charming with all it's narrow side streets and cafes everywhere. Walking through Old Town. There are many different cafes and restaurants to choose from, and quite a nightlife as well!

THE SLOVAKIAN BEER!Beer has its origins in Tsjecho-Slovakia. This motherland of beer has a rich history. Think to Budweiser, now in the USA the biggest. The town Pilzen gave the name to pilsener-beer. Now Heineken (from Netherlands) buys several breweries here. If I was president of Heineken or Grolsch, I would buy them all.

HIKE! HIKE! HIKE! There are a lot of well-marked path in the mountains. You can find yourself an easy one hour trip, or you can climb to a 2000-2500 m peak. Just the same, you climb or not the nature is beautiful everywhere and the air is so fresh.Hmmm. Landscape from above the clouds is fantastic! If you don't like climbing (and the weather is good) choose the lift in Strbské Pleso or in Tatranská Lomnica!

You must see as many castles as you can. They are wonderful and almost in every town. This is Bojnice castle. It is well-known with it´s International Festival of ghosts and spirits. It will be in the end of may. You must see it.This place is so close to my home city of Prievidza.
