GLOBAL PRESS: SOUVENIRS
At the moment in 2013, I found cities and towns in Slovakia don't cater much for tourists who wish to buy a souvenir. I am sure this will change as these countries get on their feet more and people realize the beauty of them and visit.
I managed to find something I liked at Global Press, which I think may have been a Newsagent too!
The Tourist Informatioin center has a small selection of typically Slovak gifts, such as straw dolls, wooden toys and ceramics.
They are open Mon - Fri 9-8pm
There are a few crafts shops with handmade products on the “Street of Crafts”, as Hrnèiarska Street is known (it runs parallel to Hlavná and can be found behind the Mikluš Prison).
In Poštová Street, is a shop selling paintings and handmade jewellery, and "Slides for Joy” on Mäsiarska Street sells handmade glass products by a young Košice artist.
No English was spoken in this shop.

KOSICE HISTORIC CENTRE: MARKETS OR SHOPS?
Shopping in Kosice. - If your looking for a shopping mall, then you will have to head out of the city on route 50 where the Optima shopping mall is located. In this centre are more than 70 shops and restaurants and a supermarket.
The shops are open daily from 9am - 10 pm and offer every kind of shopping including brand names.
In the historic centre, there are smaller shops and we noticed stalls were being set up, perhaps for a weekend market. We found plenty of places to buy take-away food, Cafes & Restaurants.
Interesting were the displays behind a glass case of a Bridal gown, this was to do with a nearby Bridal shop.
Plenty of ATM's in the city centre.
