To The Slovak Paradise National Park you have to get train to town Spisšká Nova Ves and next door of Train station is there Bus station. By bus have to go to ……. There are starting food path to National park. The best is “Prielom Hornadu”. (approx. 4 – 5 h. return). Is a protected natural area which extends over 140 sq. km. It has an infinite variety of natural riches: a network of underground galleries, caves and animal and botanical reserves. Among the natural reserves which make up this group are the White Valley (Biela dolina) which has, notably a huge waterfall, the Lost Valley and its ice cave (one of the most precious elements of the Slovak Paradise), the Dobsinka Ice Cave (120,000 m3 of permanent ice), Kocurova, Sucha bela, the valley decorated with remarkable geo-morphological shapes, the small and large "Kysel", the large ravine with waterfalls and caves (bear caves).
The Herlany is famous geyser just 25 min. by bus from Central bus station. You have get bus to village Herlany. Avaballity the geyser, please check on “City information centre”
The Slovak Karst – National park is situated on the Slovak - Hungarian border, surrounded by South-Slovak Lowland, Rožňavská and Košická Basin and Volovské Hills. It is the largest karst area in Slovakia. From 3610 km2 of its area 3490 km2 are protected. It is divided into 7 plains: Koniarska Plain, Plešivská Plain, Silická Plain, Horný Vrch (Upper Hill), Zádielska Plain, Jasovská Plain and Dolný vrch (Lower Hill). Jepšavský Karst is situated on the western end of the Slovak Karst.
The Slovak Karst consists of dolomites and limestone, in the south almost 400-500 m thick, full of deep canyons created by the rivers Slaná and Štítnik as well as by the Zádielsky and Hájsky Creek. The plains are full of numerous caves and abysses. You can even find here thermophilic flora with endemic features, which is more typical for heath and forest-heath regions.

Unique Suggestions: The Jasov cave – just 30 min by bus from Central bus station you have to get bus to town Jasov. Cave is open since april till october
The Spiš castle – is 50 km on North – West from Košice. You can get bus to Spišské podhradie from Košice – Central bus station. On a dolomite rock 200 m above the surrounding land, at the elevation of 634 m, there is one of the most precious cultural monuments in the Spiš region
Levoča – You have toSt. Jacob’s Church in the town of Levoča belongs to the biggest gothic temples in Slovakia. It is a living temple and as Presbyterian temple of the former free royal town of Levoča , it has served its believers for daily worshipping for more than 700 years.
Betliar - You have to ride by car or travel by bus from Central bus station to town Rožňava. There you have to get bus to village Betliar (approx. 2 h.by bus and by car 1.h.). Nowadays, in the manor house there is a museum of historical flat culture, furniture from the 15-17-th century, classicistic and empire equipment. You can find there collections of paintings, portraits, a book-case with more than 20 000 books, gun collections and hunter`s trophies, exotic souvenirs from all around the world esp. from Asia and Africa.
Bardejov – You have get bus from Central bus station to city Bardejov (approx. 1,5 h.by bus and by car 1.h.). There is historical centrum which is writing on list of Unesco. Also you can find very nice church.

St.Elisabeth cathedral

Kosice is the center of East Slovakia. This city, the second largest in Slovakia, has a long and rich history. In the town center is the magnificent Gothic cathedral, the Cathedral of St. Elizabeth, as well as the Chapel of St. Michael, the Urban Tower and the Neo-Baroque State Theatre where famous orchestras perform. The Katova Citadel and the
St. Elizabeth's Cathedral built between 1378 and 1508 and a Gothic masterpiece, is the city's oldest architectural landmark. Particularly imposing is the winged main altar with its three oversize statues and forty-eight panel paintings, while the lateral altars, Gothic wall paintings and sculptures add to the charm. Refurbishment work on the Cathedral is currently under way.
St. Michael's Chapel located to the south of the Catedral, is a single-nave Gothic edifice from the 14th century. Originally a cemetery chapel, it is the city's second oldest building.

St. Urbain's Tower, a detached medieval bell-tower from 14th century also belongs to the cathedral complex, all of which was originally surrounded by a churchyard wall until 19th century. The Bell of St. Urbain is cast from the former one which was damged by fire.
The State Theatre built in the middle of square in a park according to the design in the historicizing style be A.A.Lang and Steinhardt at the end of 19th century. The auditorium ceiling-paiting in be P.Gastgeb.
The Forgach palace, an eleven axial two storeyed palace of the nobillity built in Empire style in the early 19th century, now houses the State Science Library.

Immaculata, this sculptural group is situated on the former scaffold site in the square; it was erected by builder Tornyossy and sculptor Grimming in 1720 - 1723.
Jakab Palace, located next to a former mill-race, the palace was built by Jakab, the architect of many Art Nouveau and Romantic buildings.

Unique Suggestions: Since June till august you can get on “Main street” historical train.
Forest train- is situeted in forest park Čermeľ. There you have to get city bus “15” from centrum – “Namestie osloboditelo”. The train is function since 1.st. may till 10. september, on each wekend and first train you can get on 8:30 a.m. and last train back is on 18:10. The way get apprx. 45. minuts.
ZOO – is open around all year. Since 10:00 – 18:00. You have to get bus “29” from centrum to the end station.
Observation. On one hill over city you can visit by walk. There you have to get city bus “29” from centrum to bus stop “Suchá dolina”
Wax museum is next of Cathedral of St. Elizabeth
Undersground museum you can visit on Main street. Is next of hotel “Slovan”
“Miklus prison” there is exhibitions of some thumb – screws. The museum you can find on street “Hrnčiarská” in historical centrum.
Tower of st.Elisabeth cathedral – is nice view. Is possible get in on 11:00, 12:00 and 15:00 h..

Tourists beware the Exchange Bureau charging 8% commission next to Tescos. Also beware of the money changers who will try and fob you off with Russian currency.
