As with most places, tourists are seen as a potential source of income to the unscupulous. Watch yourself walking at night, especially outside the city centre. Oh yeah, EVERYWHERE SHUTS AT 10:00PM!!! thats bars, restaurants, the lot. After ten, look out for little dimly lit places down back streets, usually little bars full of locals, with scandalously cheap beer. Expect to be stared at though.

The further east you go from here, the more influence of Hungary on the people to the south. Past Michalovce the next stop is the Ukraine and you'll want to be heading back for Kosice.
