yumyum Says: There is an information center but it's not open on weekends in off-season. But in front of the building by the main road you will find area maps hanging here. A hiking summer one and a skiing winter one among them.

The town seems touristy and artificial, but it is one of the gateways to the Tatra mountains, so it makes a good place for diong the last bit of shopping before heading for the mountains.

Stary Smokovec is one of the resort towns in the High Tatras. Located some 40 km from the Polish border it is easy to reach from Krakow/Zakopane and has good transport connections to Poprad, Zilina......
