I got there by train from Prague. The best way to reach the Vysoké Tatry from Czech Republic is by train to Zilina, and taking a train from there in the direction of Kosice. Than you can get of Poprad Tatry, and that's where the weird electric railway will take you up to the mountainsGetting around by train in Slovakia is not hard, just ask and probably someone will help you out. From Poprad train station the funny but slow narrow gauge electric railway takes you to most mountain resorts.

In Bratislava there are representatives of Austrian Airlines, British Airways, LOT, Balkan, Aeroflot, Czech Airlines, Lufthansa, Lauda Air, Finnair, KLM, Delta Airlines, Air France, Swissair, Singapore Airlines and other airline companies; among the most important Slovak airline companies are Air Slovakia, Tatra Air and Air Transport Europe.Railway transport - direct connections to Rome, Berlin, Hamburg, Malmö, Stockholm, Oslo, Rostock, Copenhagen, Szcecin, Warsaw,...

Getting to Slovakia is very...

by Radka_KN

Getting to Slovakia is very easy. You can take a plane either directly to Bratislava, Slovakia s capital, or to Viena in Austria which is situated mere 70 km or 43 miles far from Bratislava. You can also get here by Eurolines buses from all around the Europe. Or you can also come by train from Berlin, Warsaw, Prague, Budapest...I think that for those of you who want to see 'the more the better', the best way how to get around is to rent a car. But, if you dont want to spend much money, travel around by local buses and trains......you can also try it this way...

We flew into Vienna, and then caught the train over the border to Bratislava. The train trip only took about 1 hour, and the train was quick, and clean. Whilst in Slovakia, we found that trains were an excellent way to travel, with the odd bus trip here and there as well. The trains were extremely cheap, and we were able to research timetables in English from their national railways site:www.zsr.sk/english/index.htmlI wouldn't recommend using a Eurail pass in Slovakia, as the fares are so cheap.Try and take express trains if at all possible, and be aware that some people will have reserved seats, so if someone seems to be telling you that you are in their seat, just find an empty one.

we have traveled to Bratislava, but there are also trains and planes. Sou that shouldnt be a problem. In Bratislava you can use public tranportations or taxis which are not expensive. Sou for the city you can use taxis.

Slovakia has good road and rail connection with bordered countries. By plane you can go to Bratislava or Poprad (Tatry). No problems with regular links of buses and trains. You can expect the price around 1 USD per 30 km. The price of gas in fuel station moves around 0,7 USD per liter. The system of bicycle roads in countrysides grows.

One of the best ways to 'discover' Slovakia for yourself is to view it from a back of a horse. You'll certainly appreciate an 8 day long ride in the high mountains environment of High and Low Tatras. High Tatras are the highest mountains in Slovakia with highest peak Gerlach (2655 m). Mengusovce, the village in which our ride originates, stretches right under the Gerlach. The Low Tatras are something smaller, the highest peak, Kralova Hola (The King's Hill) is 1948 m high. Especially in the Low Tatras could be found a lot of nice paths for touring on horseback. Check out this website if interested: http://www.horsevacations.com/slovakia.htmSlovakia is the small country in the geographical center of the Europe neighboring with Poland, Hungary, Czech republic, Austria and Ukraine. It offers lot of spectacular views and nice places to be seen. Slovakia is the third most timbered country in...
