By train. For me, going to Trencin from Prague by train was a wonderful experience. The Slovaks in my compartment gave me vodca, wine, water and cigarettes, showed me pictures and were very interested in my Dutch guidebook and Belgian passport, and in me, where I was from and where I was going in general. We communicated in a combination of English, German, Slovak, Spanish and Latin. I'd told them I had to change trains in Puchov and they were nice enough to warn me in time so I could get my bags and stuff. That was my first impression of Slovakia. Needless to say I loved it right away :)Also by train. Beware, Slovak train stations, especially the small ones, are confusing. The timetables are different from those in any other European country I've been to. You'll learn to figure them out eventually.
