There's a small gym in town (http://www.jamestrencin.host.sk/stena.html), and a small local crag just outside the city, by the pilgrimage site of Skalka.
Climbing is also possible under the castle at Beckov, about a half hour away, but easier to get to without a bike or car.

Equipment: A 50 meter rope and 12 draws would be fine for Skalka, maybe 60 meters for some climbs at Beckov. Trad gear isn't necessary, but could be useful to protect some of the longer runout climbs.
