breathtaking, isn't it?

Do not miss to visit the interior of the church. I was fascinated by the many colorful painting on walls and ceiling and all the little sculptures together with the pompus altar.
You still see the Baroque character of the interior of 1713.
Admission is free and you are allowed to visit the church the whole day (until 6.00pm) exept during worships.

St. Francis Xaversky's Church

The city centre is dominated by this light yellow shining two towers of St. Francis Xaversky's Church. The building was erected between 1653 – 1657 in the Baroque style according to plans of the church of Francis of Xaver in Vienna. The church was damaged by fire in 1713 and had to be rebuilt with several modifications.

Church of St. Mary's Birth

The Renaissance church on the hill towers the city centre. It was built in 1324 as a Basilica and around in the 15th century reconstructed into a hall chruch with three naves, and so it looks today. The nearby chapel was added in 1750 – 1753, according to the design of a Bratislava sculptor Ludovit Gode.

New Synagogue

In the center of the Old Town is Peace Square (Mierove Namestie) with that building. It reminded me on an Oriental temple because of its cupola. It was built in 1913 in Neo-Romanic style as a Synagogue. The building also houses an exhibition hall.

A monument in the Main Square

A monument we saw as we passed the Old Town/Main Square. Surrounded by nice buildings, I remember. It's so beautiful !

The main square in Trencin is called Mierove namestie.

When we arrived at the bus or train station, we walk west of the City Park & followed the Tatra Passage under the highway to reach the main square.

Trencin Castle

You can see it from anywhere in town. I think it looks like something out of an old vampire movie, very romantic. It was first built in the 10th century, but many parts of it have been (re)built later. You can recognice different style-periods, I don't know if anything of the 10th century-castle still remains. When you buy your ticket, you get a booklet with some information, there's a German version but I'm not sure there's an English one too. If you want to see the interior, you have to take a guided tour in Slovak (for no extra charge).

The main sqaure is called Mierové namestie. This means Peace square, which I find really appropriate because there's a very peaceful atmosphere in Trencin, it's a good place to just go for a drink, relax and watch children play. In the middle of the square plague-collumn, built to commemorate a Plague epidemic in 1713. There are some pretty buildings in the centre, among others some churches, a gate and a synagogue. Between Mierové nam. and the station is a park.

Beckov
the Ruins of the Castle

The Beckov village is located in a valley of the river Vah, beneath promontories of Považsky Inovec. The original Gothic church from
the era about 1400, which was reconstructed in a Renaissance style in 17-th century, can be found in the village. The church has
valuable interior. The Baroque church with a former Franciscan monastery from the end of 17-th century, three Late Renaissance curie
from 17-th century and one Classic curia from 18-the century are other important cultural and historical monuments. Stone Empire tombs
can be found in the Jewish cemetery at the bottom of a castle hill. The Museum of Beckov can be found in a reconstructed building of a
former Amber curia. The Beckov castle, a national cultural monument, which towers on a steep 70-m high rock directly above the village
at the altitude of 245 m is a landmark of the village which can be seen from a large distance. The first mentioning on the castle originates
from the era about 1200. Later, the original Gothic castle was rebuilt to a Renaissance manor residence. It was burnt out in 18-th
century. The castle ruins are conserved at present. Parts of vaults and wall paintings remained preserved in the upper castle. An
archaeological survey is being carried out in the castle at present, however, public is not allowed. The area offers possibilities for tourism.
The Zelena voda summer recreation resort can be found nearby.

The Cachtice Castle
the Ruins of the Castle

An original Gothic border guarding castle from the first half of 13-th century was reconstructed and extended in 15-th to 17-th
centuries. It is closed for public at present. However, you can visit the Gothic church from the end of 14-th century, the Gothic chapel
from 14-th century, the Renaissance manor house from 1668, the Renaissance curia from the beginning of 17-th century in Cachtice
village. A museum has been established in the manor house.

Inovec
the Landmark of Povazie

The highest mountain in the Povazsky Inovec mountain range (1042 m) is located on its northern part. However, its forested top does
not offer a view of its surroundings. The Chata pod Inovcom accommodation facility is built under the top, in the vicinity of which good
ski resorts with ski lifts can be found. A crest tourist path of Povazsky Inovec passes its hilltop. The hilltop is accessible from Mnichova
Lehota, Beckov and Trencianske Jastrabie.

Trencianske Teplice
the Spa Town

The spa part of the town is located in a park passing into a forest-park. Curative springs of sulphate-hydrocarbon, calcium-magnesium,
sulphur, slightly mineralised water, which well just in the pools, are used to treat diseases of motion and nerve systems. The town and its
vicinity offer possibilities of moderate strolls along arranged paths and from observation places up to the height of 300 m above the spa.
The Sina spa house with Hamam spa from 1870 - 1888, built in an Oriental style according to a project by F. Schomoranz, is remarkable.
An arcade with ornaments can be found in its interior. The Roman church from the beginning of 20-th century with a wooden carved
ceiling, the former house of the Slovak Teachers' Chorus from 1930, the music pavilion from 1932 and Esplanade sanatorium from 1933
- 1934 are other, especially architectonic, monuments. A museum with an exposition of the spa history can be found in the original
Classicism spa building from the half of 19-th century. The Zelena zaba (Green Frog) swimming pool can be used to spend leisure time in
summer, the area can be used for skiing in winter and possibilities of tourism in Strazovske vrchy can be used all the year round.

Velka Javorina
the Look-out Hill

The highest and the most important hill in Biele Karpaty (970 m). It can be found on the Slovak-Czech border. With respect to its
location and altitude, it offers a unique clock view of Biele Karpaty, Strazovske vrchy, Povazsky Inovec and Myjavska pahorkatina (the
Myjava hilly country). A retransmission TV tower is built on the hilltop. The Holuby cottage with possibilities of tourism can be found below
the hilltop. Ski resorts and ski lifts. The cottage is accessible by car.
