Favorite thing: You can visualise it even more when you visit one of the houses, as you are allowed to visit a house of a farmer who lived here in the first decade of the 20th century. Everything is so realistic that you just stand in expectation wondering when the farmer’s wife will finish cooking the mushroom soup.
If you wonder what life was like some hundred years ago, visit the village of Vlkolinec set in a beautiful landscape.
Time came to a standstill here at the beginning of the last century.
Some 40 wooden cottages from the 16th to the 19th century make up a remarkable architectural unit.
Most of them are used as homes to this day.
Favorite thing: In 1977 the village was declared a reservation of folk architecture. In 1991 it was one of the localities nominated for the world’s cultural heritage. The year 1993 is a memorable year in the history of Vlkolinec for its being included into the UNESCO’s list of the world cultural and natural heritage.
