WHERE IS IT?
Vysni Kubin is located along the international highway E-77 (= Slovak highway # 59). This is north - south highway which goes from the Baltic Sea (Gdansk), Warsaw, Krakow, crosses Slovak border in Chyzne/Trstena and goes on Dolny (= Lower) Kubin - main city of this region called Orava. Vysni (= Upper) Kubin is located three kilometers (2 mi) south of Dolni Kubin. The highway E-77 goes then southwards to Banska-Bystrica, Zvolen to cross Slovak-Hungarian border in Sahy and finally reach Budapest, capitol of Hungary.
Driving from north the manor's house is located at the right side of the highway at the beginning of a village, just before crossroads signed by directions signs shown on my picture.
Croos the pedastrian crossing seen on my picture to see a monument of the greatest Slovak poet Paul Orszagh Hviezdoslav born in Vysni Kubin.

The best way to explore the area of Vysni Kubin (add surrounding mountains!) is to walk around. A village is a few kilometers long. You can walk to Vysni Kubin from nearby (3 - 4 km) town of Dolni Kubin - main town of this region (Orava).
If you are tired you always can take local bus to continue your trip.
How to get to Dolny Kubin (4km = 2.5 mi northwards) and Ruzomberok (14 km = 9 mi southwards)?
There are numerous trains and long distance buses to both towns. No trains in Vysni Kubin though.
For trains check your timetable: European train timetable

I noticed that there were quite a lot of Slovaks riding a bicycle for recreation on weekends. They love mountain riding especially. Hmm... rather for stronger VT-ers equipped with good mountain bicycles.
Bring your own bicycle or rent it - ask in Dolny Kubin tourist information office.
Just in case you need a tyre for your bicycle or car whatch for PNEU (Pneumatiky) sign (vulcanizer and tyres) located by Highway E-77 in Vysni Kubin.
There are scheduled buses (very many on bussines days) from both Dolny Kubin (8 min.) and Ruzomberok (approx. 30 min.). They stop at Vysni Kubin just by the manor's house and Hviezdoslav monument at the bus stop on my picture and they are cheap. Don't worry, local buses look much better than the neglected and not clean bus stop (zastavka).
