Having climbed L'adovy Stit, or rather Sedielko just beneath it, you may choose a different trail to go back to civilisation. Another trail leads from there to Smokovec, but you must be prepared to negotiate steep mountain slopes on the way, where some snow may lie all the year round. Still, you are only a short (if steep) way from a mountain shelter, the popular Teryho Chata where you can take a rest, have a meal or even spend the night to gather strength for tomorrow's hiking.

Well, I may pad out the story later, but I walked on, there were German pensioners in tracksuits and trainers out on the trails, so I though 'if they can do it, I sure can'. So I did. It was the start of October, but even about 1700m up, I was down to my t-shirt. A couple of hours later, I arrived at the top gondola station, and then took the chairlift a bit further up, and scrambled on a bit more.
In the picture, I am about 2100m up (about 7100 ft). One of my favourite pics from my travels.

I didn't really mean to go hiking, it just kind of ended up like that. There are some scary hikes and I 'm sure there are more informative VT pages than this will be about them. But anyway, my tale.
I took the Hrebienek funicular up and I thought I would wander off for about ten minutes, not being equipped for mountain hiking, bearing in mind how you should treat the mountains with respect, I am 1300m up, it is a lovely day but weather can change etc. I hear a waterfall and, well, I'm a sucker for them I have to go find it. And I am descending now through the woods and the sound is getting really loud...and here it is, and I'm far from the only person to have heard it. It is not a big drop but has a run over a lot of rocks, so many in fact you can walk across and clamber up amidst it. Fantastic. I spent a bit of time here, feeling the nature. And then I kept walking...

Skalnate pleso, the middle station of the funicular from Tatranska Lomnica to Lomnicky stit. If You love hiking, forget funicular and go there on foot form Hrebienok. The path offers amazing wiews. You will be tired, but enjoyed.

Studenovodský Vodopad is one of the most visited waterfalls, because it's very easily reachable in a very populated area. Studenovodský Vodopad means "coldwater waterfall", and it has lovely cascades on one of the many streams in Tatras.

Krivan, the westernmost High Tatran peak (and relatively easy to climb), is an eight-hour return journey from Strebsko Pleso via Janske pleso.
Krivan is the holy mountain for all Slovaks and the national symbol of Slovakia. In 1841, Slovak nationalists Stur and Hurban staged a patriotic march up the mountain, a tradition that is continued to this day at the end of August

winter is really great season here but a lot of tourists who enjoy skiing and snowboarding. I love to sit somewhere even there is deadly freezing and my ears should be broken in a minute :) and listen to shivering of wind and watching snowing :) oh yeah ... and then you should drink grog (rhum and tea), eat bryndzove halusky and garlic soup :) and later hurray on sledging >:)

Kamzik vrchovsky (Rupicapra rupicapra) is a symbol of High Tatras and sometimes if you are lucky and not loud when trekking or hiking, you can see them grazing :) Kamzik is also the symbol and emblem of TANAP (Tatra National Park) with its seat in Tatranska Lomnica.
First note about kamzik has been found in Chronicle of Konrad Sperfolg of Levoca in 1517.
Unfortunately, nowadays there is very rarely to see them thanks to wide tourism and ecological changes and catastrophes. In 1994 according the TANAP statistics there were just around 40 of them... really sad ... So, a little advice, if you are there be a part of nature not civilisator and colonizer ...

Vysoke Tatry is the westernest part of the Charpatians and so its geological structure is pretty much different than our Alps. I was pretty surprised by these more or less big stones, even boulders were seen in many places.
