A small monument honoring the Slovak National Uprising at the end of World War II.
The 1944 Uprising, led by the Slovak Resistance, overthrew the collaborationist government of J. Tiso. The Nazis responded with massive force and defeated the uprising, but in spring 1945 the Soviet Red Army marched in.
at first glance this looked a lot like so many of the other monuments commemorating soviet liberation of places occupied by the nazis.
