Bohinjsko Jezero Travel Guide

 egonwegh Says:  The church of Ribcev Laz near Lake Bohinj. I especially liked the exterior painting of St. Christopher, who happens to be one of my favourite saints (see for example the picture I made in Vitt on the island of Rügen ) 

 egonwegh Says:  Jennie stumbled upon this hidden cemetery on the south side of the lake when we spent some time at the lower terminal of the cable lift that took us up to the ski resort Vogel afterwards. It would seem that soldiers fighting in World War I were buried here after a skirmish... 

 egonwegh Says:  It's an easy walk from the ski hotel Vogel (also upper terminal of the cable lift) to the nearby mountain top Orlove Glave. In one of these pictures you can see the two of us right on top of this modest elevation in the area with our backs to the cross that has been placed... 

 egonwegh Says:  This is the Ski Resort Vogel, altitude approx. 1535 meters. We went up by cable-lift from Lake Bohinj's southern shores. We paid 27 euro (2 persons) for this relatively short trip. You'll get a great view of Mt. Triglav during the way up!Because we visited the area in spring... 

 clivedinburgh Says:  We took the cable car at the Vogel Ski Centre. This hourly service gives some great views on the way up. Once at the top there are several bars for the apres ski crowd but these were mostly shut when we visited. We had a walk up some of the ski runs and were treated to some... 

 clivedinburgh Says:  Our friends took this trip which runs the length of the lake to the campsite near the Vogel cable car. There is a commentry during the trip highlighting the surrounding views and nature.The lake appeared to be full of fish from what we could see from the shore. 

 clivedinburgh Says:  There are two tourist offices in the village (Bohinj & Alpine) giving you lots of options of excursions/activities. There is a small shop which is ideal for stocking up on snacks/picnic food.The church of St John is also worth a look and the World War I memorial is a good... 

 clivedinburgh Says:  The lake is well worth a hike around and we met several groups out enjoying the autumn air. There are two paths that you can take along the south shore (we took the lower one) but the north shore path hugs the shoreline virtually the whole length of the lake. 

 clivedinburgh Says:  The buses in Slovenia were very good and is only way to get up to the national park (short of hiring a car). There is an hourly service which was very punctual.The bus drivers were helpful and when language bacame a problem a passenger helped us out with a translation.
