This occasional lunch stop became a nice culinarian surprise. We first thought only to have a snack with the local Prsut (in Italian "prosciutto" = ham) and a glass of Teran wine but curious as we are we asked the waiter what else she would recommend so she first started with usual Italian standards like bistecca etc. but then she mentioned a Stinca for two (i.e. porks leg in Italian - we had our talk in Italian because neither Anjutka nor me speak any Slovenian but almost all Slovenians have a very good knowledge of the language of the nearest neighbouring country - which in this case is Italian - plus at least some knowledge of English). So we ordered the "Stinca" plus Teran wine.
Favorite Dish: We sat down at a table on the nice terrace in front of the Gostilna and got our wine and the bread basket. After some time she came with a steaming and nicely smelling giant bowl with a huge porks leg right from the oven surrounded with great vegetables etc., more than enough to satisfy the appetite of two very hungry people. Seeing and smelling the thing we both had in the same second only one word: SUPER!
And all tasted as great as it looked like and the Teran to it was just prefect, I could not imagine any better wine to it. It was real pork, not this almost tasteless stuff you get in the supermarkets throughout the whole European Union. First we thought we would never be able to eat all that but to our own surprise we could empty the complete bowl until only the bare bone was left.
At the end we paid 30 EUR for all together (with wine, etc)
The pic is of course not our meal (we just forgot to take pics). Borrowed from the restaurants homepage.
