The source of the Soca river issues forth from the heart of the Julian Alps, near the border with Italy.Rafting on rivers is very popular since it doesn‘t require any special skills and is suitable for almost everybody.
The Sava river traverses diagonally the whole of the country. The upper part of both rivers hosts rafters and kayakers.

The Julian Alps and most especially the Mt. Triglav park are covered with hiking trails that lead to fantasitc views and breathtaking slopes. Many of them are not for the faint of heart where you need to climb very steep cliff faces with the aid of some steel spikes driven into the cliff wall. You hold and and hope that whoever put them there knew what he was doing. Here you have one of the trailheads that leads off from the Kranska-Gora to Trenta road.

A view of the curving road that takes you from Kranska-Gora to Trenta, up, up, up and over the pass of the Julian Alps and through the Mt.Triglav Park. The curves are mostly lined with paving stones which can make driving "inventive" if they are wet or covered with snow. You can also take a look at the surrounding mountains, covered with trees or stone, if you dare take your eyes off the road for a moment.

Just outside the Psnak area on the road (actually a dirt road) from Mojstrana there is a giant Linden tree. I work with plants and trees and this is one of the most beautiful of the Lindens I have seen in quite a while.

This is a small restaurant and bed and breakfast that is run by a family. The food is made only after you order it, so fresh it is and homemade. What makes this extra special is the fantastic view of the Julian Alps from here. Take a seat ouside at one of the benches under the linden trees, and with that view, don't forget to close your mouth and eat also.

Address: Just outside Mojstrana on a dirt road
If you happen to see a road sign that points onto a dirt road, why don't you take it. Some of them will lead you to places like this. Just outside Dovje we took this road to the Psnak Restaurant. The drive was beautiful and the area so peaceful. The roads are sometimes unpaved, but they are well maintained.

Favorite thing: Here we are at Psnak with the Julian Alps for a background and a hayrack to keep un in line ^O^ Meeting Marko and Barbara again in Slovenia was like coming home, they are fantastic people and will be one of the reasons I will go again. But if not for VT we would never have met, that is one of the most positive things I can thing to say of this site, not only do you learn of other cultures, you may actually make friends and be so much the richer for it....

Favorite thing: Hey, what can I tell you, the smiles say it all, these are happy VTers. Zohara, Marko and Carla waiting for me and Ronald to snap some photos before the food arrives at Psnak. The shade was provided by a giant Linden tree, the perfect place to meet.

Favorite thing: It took some doing, but Barbara (here with Zohara and Carla) was able to rearrange her hectic schedule to come and meet us at Psnak. All our girls were happy to let us take this pic of them before we sat down to eat at Psnak.
