    Rimske toplice

    by Zo72 Updated Dec 20, 2003

Rimske toplice means Roman thermal waters. It is small town situated about 5 km to the south of Lasko. It is old health resort place, but unfortunately hotel there is closed for more than 10 years because of "unsettled ownership issue". This destroys tourism capacity of this otherwise beautiful place.

There is open pool in Rimske toplice with warm water and there are beautiful hills and forrest around. Kopitnik hill is a good place to visit!

Church of St. Mohor and old lime trees

    Church of St. Mohor

Smohor is a popular trip destination near Lasko with a hut where you can have a drink, a meal and even sleep. It is starting point for many mountains like Malic, Kal or Mrzlica.

There is an old church of St. Mohor there, that was first mentioned in 1421. During Turkish raids, bonfires were set on the hills in order to give a warning to the remote places. People would seek shelter in buildings like this church - they would close themselves inside giving opportunity to the Turks to plunder their villages.

There are very old lime trees from the Turkish times in the front of the church. They may be 500 years old.
