The town is accessable by car, by bus or by train. Highway Ljubljana - Naklo goes pass Kranj by its North-East corner. If you're coming from Ljubljana, a motorway is also a good choise. The rails connections are pretty rare, so bus or car are better solution.
The Airport Brnik - Aerodrom Ljubljana, stands 7 km East from Kranj.

Maistrov Trg (Maister Square) is the gateway into the Old Town where the upper town gates were located in the 15th century. The gates were protected by a high tower but today all that remains of the defences in the square is the, rather hidden from view, Spital Tower which was one of seven along the city wall.

    Slovene Square

by Willettsworld Written Sep 22, 2006

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

In 1886, the City of Kranj bought the farm of the Khislstein Manor in the suburb of Kokrica and arranged, here, a tree-lined promenade. In 1922, the National Center (Narodni dom), designed by architect Ivan Vurnik, was erected on the east side of the park. The building with its monumental façade enclosed the park on the east. In the years following World War II, Vurnik’s building was reconstructed, and the park was renamed Revolution Square in 1961. Today the square is known as Slovene Square after being redesigned by the architect Marijan Tepina and features a few nice sculptures by Janez Dolinar called Workers Strike, The Beginning of the Uprising, Partisan Battle and Revolution.
