A new club in town! You can't miss it it is right in the centre of Ljubljana, on Slovenska street oppostie the main Post office attached to department store NAMA. There is an elevator that will take up in the sky to the club. During the day you can enjoy a slendid view of Ljubljana have a cup of coffe or any other drink. At night it turns into a night club with theme nights. Go back to disco age every Saturday night!
In October 2007, one of the security guards (a bouncer) at Global brutally attacked and beat a 20-year-old club visitor to death. This happened just meters from the club entrance, right in front of the eyes of his friends. The incident occured at 3:30am in the morning, apparently after the 20-year-old and some other people in his company were refused entry to the club. As several posts on this website already attest, the security guards at Global were very aggressive. They were also involved in several other incidents at other clubs (the same security guard company was hired by a few other nightclubs in Slovenia). At the time of the incident, the Slovenian government was already investigating whether their license should be revoked. The incident made major headlines in Slovenia and is considered a national tragedy. It almost forced a resignation of the Slovene government minister for internal affairs. For several days after the event, people held protests. Many also lit up candles at the entrance to the club in downtown Ljubljana. The suspect (believed to be a foreign national) is still at large in December 2007 - with reports that he escaped abroad. It is a shame as Global used to be a good club. However, if you visit Slovenia, do not be alarmed, as such incidents can really happen anywhere in the world. Also, they are rare in Slovenia compared to other countries, which is why the incident attracted a lot of public attention.
A poshy nightclub in the city centre. Seemed like a nice place, but since it was very crowded, a friend of mine accidentaly fell down to one of the securities, and he got thrown out immideately.
After the accident it didn't seem such a nice place anymore... But again, it could happen anywhere
Extremly rude guards!!! It is impossible even to talk to them. You get kicked out for impossible reasons. I thought things like that could happen somewhere in Russia, but no. Like that was not a place to party, drink and have fun, but some kind of army barracs or a mosque... should not happen in a beautifull place like Ljubljana. Try some other clubs and pubs, which are in abundance there, especially in the summer. But do not go to GLOBAL
Appears to hold a variety of events with the abillity to partition of various areas at times then open up the whole space for the nightlife.
The DJ on the night we were there resurected many cheesy 80s songs that i thought I'd permanently forgotten and don't wish to repeat but did salvage some dignity with some more up to date dance numbers.
Dress Code: Casual
If you like meat markets, this is your choice. Good music, a lot of dancing and drunken debauchery. It gets really packed on Wednesday nights.
Dress Code: Casual, wear pants, and shoes and a nice shirt and you're good to go.
A perfect location for a Saturday night if you like your retro disco music....and what a view!
Arrived at midnight and left at 5am....some of our party didn't leave the dancefloor for the entire stay.
But if you need a break, get out onto the balcony and watch the sunrise over the mountains behind the castle....
Dress Code: Some of us were in jeans, some in shorts and all in trainers; and entrance wasn't a problem....the locals were a little more spruced up though!
