To rest from all the sightseeing you can go to Tivoli park and rest in beautiful nature. You can start from Cankarjeva street up to Tivoli Castle where you can find International Centre of Graphic Arts. You can proceed left to Roznik peak or right to Mostec .Roznik is also called Cankarjev vrh( Cankar peak) and you'll need about half an hour to get there. You can descend to the other side of the hill and ride Island horses at Cad.
Mostec is recreational centre - there is plastic ski jump and childrens' playground .
Tivoli Park in Ljubljana is nothing like the other Tivoli Park I've been to in Copenhagen, no amusement park, very few people but it's a nice green space on the edge of town should you be looking for some peace and quiet. There's not much else to see there unless you are interested in going to the International Center of Graphic Arts which is in the Tivoli Mansion or the Museum of Modern History which we might have visited had we not had our first day in Slovenia with beautiful blue skies and sunshine. Instead we walked through the park and then headed back into the center of Ljubljana.
The Tivoli Mansion has been used as a mansion for the Jesuits, military hospital and barracks and as a residence for city officials. There's a rumor that the artist that created the cast iron dogs guarding the mansion was so distraught that he forgot to give them tongues that he shot himself but since I couldn't get high enough to verify if that was true or not, I think it might have been a little of an overreaction if the rumor is true.
Tivoli is Ljubljana's largest park and the main promenade of the town. Besides the numerous walking paths, gardens and sculptures it houses huge indoor hall called Tivoli and one of the best European basketball club called "Olimpija".
Tivoli is a beautiul and peaceful park, with lots of joggers on the paths. varied birdlife can be seen there, aswell as many cultural events. the Zoo is about 25 mins walk through the park, near the southern limit, and has a small selection of animals and birds to see, but not much info in english
This park is on the outskirts of the main part of the city. Even though Ljubljana is pretty small as cities go it is still nice to get away from it all sometimes. This park is immense! It is dotted with water features & statues. Apparently there is also a lake as you head further into the park away from the city.
Once you've spent long enough exploring the old town, you could spend the afternoon walking round Ljubljana's biggest city park, Tivoli Park. It seemed to be a favourite place for joggers, and there are many pathways over the park's small hill. I imagine on a sunny day, it is full of people relaxing, in the same way that Londoners flock to Hyde Park as soon as the clouds part...but as luck would have it, I visited in drizzle, so only a few hardy joggers and dog-walkers were out and about.
If you get tired of evrybody/everything just go to the Tivoli park. It's nice place to take a break and do nothing :-)
