The most significante thing about this place is that it is situated in Ljubljana's oldest house. It has got the name after the book title of the first slovenian book. The book was writen by Primoz Trubar who actualy lived in this place in 16th century.
We only had a drinks as it was too early for lunch but according to the menue, the selection of food is decent.
Abecedarium Café is a popular place for a drink or a snack, especially among students. But you will also find businesspeople and tourists here. Cold and warm dishes are offered together with a variety of non-alocoholic and alcoholic beverages. The menu includes international, italian and local kitchen and everything in the menu is printed in four languages (Slovene, English, German and Italian). Staff is friendly - but on the other side I have to admit that I haven't met an unfriendly Slovene unitl now.
What makes this café special is that it is housed in Ljubljana's oldest house. To learn more about the house and the street where it is situated in, please check out my tip about Ribji Trg and the oldest house in the "things to do" category.
Favorite Dish: I had a local dish which was buckwheat porridge with horse meat. Can't remember the Slovenian name of it. I was really satisfied and felt quite full afterwards.
Abecedarium Cafe is a good lunch spot with pastas and salads or a good place to have coffee in the morning. It is on the Old Town side of the river. You can sit outdoors next to a fountain or indoors. The only negative was the attitude of our waitress, but the food is good.
Sit behind the fountain at the angle in the picture and your immaturity will provide a few laughs.
Also, the building has some historical significance. The writer Primoz Trubar, author of the first Slovenian book, lived in the building in the 16th century. The name of the book - Abecedarium.
Hours are 7am-4pm, and 8pm-10pm.
Favorite Dish: Salads and soups are good, and coffee is also worth a try.
The prices for local food were high, for italian one were lower... as everywhere else. We had pizza (good) and paid accordingly. The local is privileged, and the ambiance was great.
