Le Petite Cafe: A bit of France in Ljubljana
It is not far off thinking that there should be a café with the name of Le Petit Café on a square named after the French Republic, but to imagine this to be in the Slovene capital Ljubljana seems strange. But Ljubljana has many equalities with France and French cities. The architecture, the café life, the outdoor romance, the river promenades and much more. This all makes Ljubljana more than worth the charm of Le Petit Café.
Many an afternoon can be spent on the outdoor tables of this café, where one can be served an excellent Bela Kava.
But keep this tip a secret for it seems such a little treasure to have been found.
Le Petite Cafe: Soak up the atmosphere in a cafe: Le Petite
The Rough Guide on Slovenia has this to say: "Eternally popular and wonderfully atmospheric street corner cafe, perfect for a large white coffee (bela kava) and croissant for breakfast or a glass of wine in the evening." This also happens to be Samo's favourite coffee haunt. I hardly think I will be allowed to leave Ljubljana without making an appearance here!
The place was packed while I was there and it was just late afternoon. The cafe occupies the ground floor of the Friedl-Rechar House, once a palace accommodating shops and apartments and is within walking distance from the National Library. If you had spent some time exploring the area south of Kongresni Trg, this is actually quite a nice place to park yourself for a while before moving on.....provided you could grab a free table.
Just a note though: The crowd also means that the waiters are being pulled thin. Service is A LITTLE wanting but not seriously enough for you to roll your eyes to the back of your skull.
Favorite Dish: I had Iced Coffee - robust and most importantly, refreshingly cool. And rum-free, after a big surprise in a cafe off Lake Bohinj.
Yeah, I probably should have gone for the White Coffee (which Samo proclaims as the best) but for once, I gave the highlight a miss.

''Le Petit Cafe'': Great white coffee
This french style coffeehouse is very popular among the students which study in the National Library and need a break and some caffeine. The interior is very pleasant but I prefers to sit outside (when this is possible).
They serve one thing they are famous for - ''Le Petit'' white coffee. The name (''Small'') is not the most suitable one, the coffee comes in 1/2 liter cup (half of that is milk foam). Whenever I'm here, I order the same. Many of my friends too :-).
On cup costs 350 tolars.
Favorite Dish: Althought they have some snacks, I've never tried one, nore will I. I come here to drink my ''Le Petit'' white coffee. For eating, I go somewhere else.
