A Village called 'Turnisce'
Where the double story house stands now, there used to be a lovely thatched roof cottage, where bright flowers used to grow from the window boxes. The cottage comprised of three rooms and an attic.
Adjoing the cottage, was a stable, where the livestock were housed.
Many of these cottages no longer exist today, even in the villages.

Goricko is amazing!
You should simply take a trip to lovely Goricko hills which are not far from Murska Sobota - this is one of most unspoiled landscapes in Slovenia and one most remote which makes it little difficult to travel if you don't come by your own transport.
As name suggests this is hilly area with extensive agriculture on fertile and sunny slopes, while majority of the land is covered with forests where you can easily get lost! We go often here to pick wild mushroom and sometimes there are really many.
Other than that, the area alone has been declared as park of nature and included into Natura 2000 network. Most interesting protected species happen to be wild otter (Lutra lutra) whose population is the largest in the state. It is almost impossible to see her as she spends days very well hidden, but if you can recognize her poo and footprints, you've already seen a lot of her!
There is still significant number of old traditional Pannonian houses to see here, and on the other hand, the village Grad near Hungarian and Austrian border prides itself with the biggest castle in Slovenia, whose 3/4 rooms are yet planned to be renovated within strict conservation measures - a task very difficult!
Since this should be separated page for the place alone but it doesn't exist within VT base I have placed it into milleu of Murska Sobota, which is only some kilometers away anyways.
See below web site for most comprehensive guide.

film festival in Grad at the castle
This is new festival on Slovenian film scene and it covers broad environmental and societal subjects which makes it for very specific public I guess - and prehaps for that reason it get smaller public attention.
But less visitors doesn't mean any bad - I thoroughly enjoyed all my time spent here, and though wanted I only could go for some stuff since there were few locations simultaneously providing acitivities: from watching the main movies at big screen outdoors through organic market, or music performances or sets of short movies indoors. Several directors came and were interviewed, and there was a photo contest, too.
Even though it has very specific program there was also live fairy tales in the forest next to park gate therefore it is a child friendly event!
I can only look forward for next edition of festival another summer. Watching stuff under skies, listening cricket the same time, interacting with others within old and huge castle of Grad... that is something very nice about entire thing! If you are visiting region in May it's worth to check out for stuff at the web site I provided.

Actually everything started in the summer 1995, wh
We are a group of students at the secondary school Gimnazija Murska Sobota in a small town called Murska Sobota in Slovenia This group consists of 32 students (31 boys and 1 girl) and the professor Renato Lukac. Unfortunatelly, not all of them have participated activly. The group was founded recently with a goal to join the international Astronomy On-Line project. We already started to work on it. We had to start from the begining, so our students wrote some reports, to get to know the fundaments of astronomy. Then they read them to the whole group. We also wanted to record with TV camera the Lunar eclipse that happend in the night from 26th to 27th of September this year, but the recording failed because of the weather. We prepaired ourselves better for the Partial Solar Eclipse. Our group and Astronomical Association Kmica made organized a public observation of the eclipse.

A village called 'Dobrovnik'
Another village in this region, much the same in appearance and lifestyle.
This was one of the few villages in this area, that had a doctor in residence. (back in the good old days ?..)
