kantina zizola: Piran

by call_me_rhia

In this place I fell in love... in love with a wonderful wine: I remember walking in, sitting down and ordering a glass of prosecco. The barman looked at me, intensely, and said slowly and softly: I have something better than prosecco, trust me. Needless to say, I was tempted - and agreed. The glass came, I tasted it, and i thought I had tasted heaven's nectar: srebrna radgonska peniha! It was the first of many other glasses - and of a perfect night out definitely informal

Bled Casino: Bled

by call_me_rhia

What I liked best at Bled casino was not the gambling itself, but the fun in not knowing how much you are gambling and how much you won. first of all slovene currency is not allowed, so at the entrace you are forced to change your foreign money. I had some 20 DM with me, so i decided i could part with them easily: they give you coins in exchange - and their worth was equivalent to austrian schillings. I played a bit, lost a bit, won a bit. Unable to figure out how much I had won in schillings, I kept playing - hoping to lose. I mean: figure bringing your winning and finding out you've won only a few cents anyway - embarassing! With the Euro in Slovenia's neighbouring countries, this bit of fun has been taken away from me. No more gambling, I think. neat casual sould be enough, for a woman at least. a tie might be required for men, i don't remember

Beer! Beer!

by oja

Beer! Beer!Slovenia has two ‘global’ beers (and therefore two - strictly divided! - groups of people who swear by one or another): Lasko and Union. Basically lagers (at least this is what you get if you order simply one or another), they come in other versions, too: Lasko - temno (dark), lahko (light - 40% less alcohol), Gren (non-alcoholic), Roler (shandy), Neto-pir (brown). Union - pils, Crni baron (dark), Uni (non-alcoholic), Radler (shandy), Amber (brown), Tivoli (Kilkenny type), Smile (Corona type, consumed with a slice of lemon).

by oja

As for cinemas, it has to be underlined that foreign films in Slovenia are not dubbed, but subtitled. So feel free to go and hear your favourite actors talking in their languages and with their own voices! You can find cinemas in every bigger town. The best (and the only) multiplex with the latest technology is in Ljubljana (Kolosej). Ticket prices start at about 600 SIT ang go up to 900.

Ambasada Gavioli

If you like small towns, Kranj is a place for you.It has only 10 pubs or bars, however you call them. But first of all you must visit Down town bar, or maby if you like dance music Galva. In one year we are planning to make a cultural center for all young people. That should me fun.

by richiecdisc

These mountain huts are privately owned but saw lots of locals carting up their weekend supplies including beer and wine. I'm sure it's a great place to party when the stars are out and the night is cool, crisp, and clear.
