Canyoning, probably one of the coolest things I have done. I would definitely recommend the Bled rafting company, use the website below or find their booth in the center of town. Their guides were excellent and friendly, speaking good English
We met our guides in the center of town and drove about 30 minutes to the destination. We doned our wetsuits and hiked for quite a while through a field and up the hill along side of the canyon. The best part was the decent down through the canyon. The water was freezing, but the wetsuits helped alot. You basically jump down levels into small, but deep pools of water. Some levels we had to use a rope to decent as it was too dangerous a jump. The biggest jump was around 40 feet high. Some of the jumps were quite tricky and you had to jump out through a narrow crevice. It was thrilling, but a peaceful way to spend the morning. While one does not have to be in good shape to do this, it probably wouldn't be something for kids under 16 or seniors. All else could handle it. My wife is not very outdoorsy and she loved it. Be warned, at the end they encourage you to jump into the water without the wetsuit on. a new level of cold. My only regret is not having a camera to take any pictures.
Equipment: The company provides all the equipment. All we needed was a bathing suit and outdoor shoes that could get wet. Bring dry clothes.

Lots of activities can be done in & around Bled. Hiking, swimming, boating even adventure sports !
Hiking to Vintgar Gorge.
swimming in the lake or swimming to the islet.
Motor boats are banned here so you can hire the boat to row to the islet.
Adventure sports will be around Triglav National Park. Paragliding, parachuting, skiing, kayaking, mountain bikings etc.
Even climbing up Mount Triglav could be planned in Bled.
One example of an agency which organises these activities is :
ProMontana Agency,
Ljubljanska cesta 1.
The links below...
Equipment: Bring the essential gears that you need for the activities mentioned.

Bled is a good starting point for hikes in the surrounded mountains and in the Triglav national park. There are good hiking routes and the tourist office in Bled will have good information about it.
Equipment:
Take enough to drink and eat, prepare different kind of clothing (the weather can change rapidely in the mountains!) and, of corse, don't forget your camera and "freeze" phantastic views!

We decide to take the longer but gentler route down to Bohinj. First we walk through a forest, then we pass a long stretch with some really strange vegetation: like high (very high) grass and nettles. Finally, we enter the forest again and eventually reach a panoramic mountain hut. In the afternoon - we start going down towards Bohinj... all the route is in the forest and the trail is huge - like a small highway compared to the trails of the previous days. Unfortunately, it's a long one - and not too scenic. 3/4 of the way down there's a bench by a fallen tree and a red mark that indicates a path. It's really badly marked and at times (especially when u have to cross the river), it takes a few attempts to pick up the trail again... but it takes you to the wonderful Savica waterfall so it's worth the hassle really. The waterfall is only 20 minutes away - and from there, there are stairs that lead you down to Bohinj. The lake in only 30 more minutes away, following the road.
Bohinj - wonderful green waters!!! Heavenly! It takes us three seconds to go change into our swimsuits and jump in the inviting waters: bad mistake! The water is as cold as it's charming - in other words it's freezing! Too late - now we are in - we might as well swim out time away until the bus that will take us back to Bled arrives.
about 1100 m downhill - 5 hours

next stop is the the Krka mountain hut. We took our time going there - stopping often - either for pics - to change clothes (it suddenly became quite hot) - to help our friend in difficulty - to run back to the ferrata to have our pictures taken - or simply to find the trail that we had missed (as we noticed when we found ourselves nearly falling off a cliff). Then after a long break at the Krka mountain hut we have another small mountain pass to overcome before our path will start going downhill... it's small, but it's not easy! The snowfields are huge this year and we really have to be careful: if we slip it'll really be hard to stop ourselves - unless we end up hitting one of the big rocks at the bottom of the pass, which are a bit of a painful solution. We decide not to attempt this. From the mountain pass it's all the way down to the valley of the 7 lakes - it's generally an easy trail - although there are some boulders that need to be overcome. When we reach the beautiful lakes at the bottom we are exhausted and our knees are about to give in - fortunately it's all flat to the 7 lakes mountain hut, which is only 1 hour away.
asleep and dreaming.
Height difference + 100 m (and about 1000 going down) - 6.30 hours
Equipment: hiking boots and water. trekking poles are really handy for walking over snowfileds

The first section of the hike is thru a secular pine forest - not very scenic but fortunately not very long either. When we come out of the forest there's a wide green valley in front of us - we follow it - go past it - and then enter another short stretch of forest. At the end of it we catch our first sight of Mount Triglav and the mountain hut where we're supposed to spend the night. It looks like it's precariously placed on the rocky face of the mountain - and we're seriously wondering how we'll make it up there. Soon we reach the mountain hut where we had planned to stop for lunch. After lunch we rest for about an hour and check the map: we are correct but we fail to see where the trail will lead us... the final mountain hut still looks placed dangerously on the rock and we're no climbers really. After a break at a mountain hut the trail starts off flat and it finally becomes quite narrow.. so it's best to stop laughing and horsing around, and watch our step a little. Finally we reach the base of the wall that would lead us the the mountain hut - and it's not as bad as it seemed from the distance. The path is narrow but only at times exposed - and the 2 passages with fixed ropes are not difficult at all. Eventually, though slowly, we reach the Planicka Hut.

There are a lot of ducks on Bled lake. They're not afraid to come on the beach and take the food from people. On sunny days they're cathing sunshines in the tree branches.

On the way around the lake you can admire the nature and it's wonders. I passed by this tree which is very ill because it has a lot od cancer tumors on the branches.

When I was in Bled, they were holding a very large rowing competition, and international one actually. It was pretty cool to watch, and maybe you'll be lucky to see one yourself.
