Clean water of the lake guarantees plenty and healthy fishes and fishing is a pleasure here thanks to scenery and absence of crowds - if you pick nice spot or go by boat somewhere till the middle.
Equipment: First before fishing you'll need to buy the permit - which cost 25 euro in 2011 per one day. We bought it at the tourist information center in Ribicev laz one day before, because you can start fishing as easly as by sunrise, which in summer time means quite a short night with day begining very early! Daily fishing permission alows to catch maximum 5 kilogram of fishes, and you can fish till dawn. Ask for details at the info center when you'll get permit, to be sure to not break the rules.
Fishing is also allowed at Sava Bohinjka river and Mostnica stream (fly-fishing) and the price for them is different.
We got altogether some 10 small fishes for our lunch (we cooked in mobile cooker at spot so it was real fresh!) and later for nice dinner on a lonely shore! For two people that's quite enough when eaten with bread.
The lake's water looks calm like a mirror, it's very clean and cold - but in summer you should have opportunites to do few water sports. Swimming is possible at a few beaches (the camp's beach, the beach next to camp after reeds in Ukanc) in the Western side and also on its Eastern side. In the case of latter: it is more crowded spot but there are wide meadows for sun bathing and wide strip of pebble to sit directly at the water edge, with few bars and restaurants in vicinity. That part is also first accessible, just next to Ribicev laz, within few minutes walk from the village (some parking space is available a little further from village).
Then there are also smaller 'beaches' which are lonelier, and yet they still have very nice access to the water.
And you have spots where noone is seen at all.
As it goes with the lakes here, you've got also other water sports to do: kayaking is probably the most popular one and you can easily rent a boat at designated permises.
Equipment: You can rent a boat or kayak at few spots. You can also rent a bike for cycling if you don't have your own one. You know what is needed for swimming.
It's great area for hiking and mountain sports. There are many trails to do and you can spend days discovering one after another.
Skiing is possible just above the lake on Vogel.
The area of the Julian Alps has some ski resorts, one of them is the ski site at Mount Vogel.
You can see pictures of the mountain and the view from the top at the travelogue.
Here you can enjoy pretty much any kind of outdoor activities. Slovenia did a lot to offer the tourists a variety of sports options. I will mention just a few. Hiking, rawing, cycling, climbing....and in winter all sorts of "snow" sports.
There are a few companies who can organise kayaking on the lake, one of them is Pac Sports. For a decent price you can rent a kayak and explore the lake, if the conditions aren't bad you can also tackle the river!
Equipment: They can supply you with all you need, wet suit, kayak and a paddle
You can begin your walk around the lake at stone bridge. You then continue on the shady path under Pršivec along the norts bank of Bohinj lake. The environment is very idyllic. There are no influences of civilization to be noticed in this area. It takes you about 3 hours to come around the lake.

You should prepare good shoes, something to drink (water will be the best of corse), maybe also something to eat (you could get hungry after the hike) and of corse - don't forget your photo equipment.
