    Ribic: spectacular view

    outdoor and indoor dining.
    fresh seafood
    great prices
they can handle small and large parties.
what's so nice about this restaurant is that it's not in a hotel along the shoreline, but off the beaten road - literally. you have to travel this small, basically one lane road past the salt flats to get to what looks like it was once a home covered in greenery. it would make a great place for a perfect wedding reception i think.

the first time i ate there, we were a group of 4. after a full meal and 3 bottles of the local house wine (which was really nice) our total bill came to about 50 EUR.

the second time was more of a party event, where food just showed up on the tables (as did the never ending bottles of wine) and we began with muscles, moving on to those sea creatures that look like 6 inch lobsters on to a main course of grilled fish and potatos and grilled veggies.

    it was perfect.

Favorite Dish: look above. everything i ate was great.

    spiaggia bar: simply seafood

    the beach terrace

Despite the italian name it's a true slovenian restaurant.. but, being located on the beach, it caters to holidaymakers, obviously. I liked it, however... you can nearly eat with your feet in the sand

Favorite Dish: slovenian ham is truly delicious.. i think it's left to "mature" in karst caves... i've also had grilled calamari, and they were delicious

Unfortunately the restaurant is a bit posh - but the food is superb. The restaurant is quite large but cosy, and the staff friendly.. they also speak italian fluently, which helped

Favorite Dish: buzzara mussles and baked scallops. heavenly. I also had a delicious dish of seafood pasta...

A restaurant by the beach (also with its private beach) was chosen because it had on display four menu types two of them matching exactly the kind of dinner that we both wanted.

We were not disappointed. The food was great, well served, the ambiance was perfect, and the gentle service ended retributing the small tip that we gave with... a grappa.

    A good experience!

Numerous restaurants along Portoroz beach: Slovene Istria and its cuisine

by Glorija Written Jun 13, 2007

    My favorite - grilled squids

Istrian cuisine is considered a healthy way of eating since it has all the elements of good nourishment: from fruit and vegetables grown in Istria to various seafood and fish from the Adriatic Sea, as well as meat dishes prepared in a sound, healthy way. The Istrian cuisine has all the components of the Mediterranean kitchen and that is its charm. It is considered Mediterranean food, which means that it will enrich your health while you are savouring it.

Favorite Dish: Istrian “brodet” or fish goulash, dumplings with venison, “fuži” noodles with truffles to all kinds of seafood specialities – scorpion fish, gilt, bass, sardines, sole, shrimp (grayfish) and squid. You will taste all these Istrian delights over “refošk”, an excellent red wine, or “malvazija”, the Queen of Istrian white wine.

    Fish market: Fresh and tasty

by Glorija Written Jun 13, 2007

In the center of Portoroz just near the bus station there is the best restaurant with fresh sea food. It is actually a fish market so you are probably aware how fresh the fishes and squids are.

Anyhow it is very cheap, the atmosphere is relax and the service is quick. The place is usually crowded in summer time but if you ask me it is worth to wait a little bit. They have a few dinner tables outside, arranged like a small garden. But since it is very close to the road it is narrow. At evenings this is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the Portoroz scenery.

by coceng Written Sep 14, 2003

Some places to eat around Portoroz :
Fast foods & pizzas lined up Obala. You can take your picks, either sitting down or take-aways.

There's also a supermarket called Mercator where it is situated a few steps away from the bus station.
It's opened from 7 am to 7 pm weekdays & to 6 pm only on Saturdaty / 11 am only on Sunday.
