While Portoroz is a congregation of hotels, casinos and tourist traps... Lucja, in its suburbs, it's the place where people live. Lucja is a suburb of Portoroz and it's quite pleasant... to walk there, along the sea-shore, it takes about 20-25 minutes. Half way between the two places there's a large marina with some fancy boats (yuck) and a nice canal lined with restaurants and cafés. Slovenian coast is small but you`ve got many things to do & see. Sports, luxury staying, eating and exploring are must be while visiting the coast. In summer time this place becomes very crowded and lots of tourist enjoy its natural beauties. For those who are very adventure I am sure other places would be far more interesting. Most of the development along the main road Obala Beach Road dates from the late 1960's but Portoroz was first mentioned in the 13th century.
Portoroz was the bay where there used to be the sailing competetions venue of galleons !
The Maona travel agency rents out boats where they can be hired on the west of Metropol Hotel area.

Theres isnt any major must do's in Portoroz, although i'd recommend relaxing!
The best thing to do would be to take a stroll into Piran, 3 km up the coast. Its a beautiful little town.

Portoroz is a solid strip of high-rise hotels, shops, discos, parked cars, tourists with nothing else but things on their backs,, tourists with their swimsuits, tourists with their swimming trunks & more tourists !
This is not to everyone's liking by the way.
Almost everything here is gearing to attract more & more tourists.
The addition to that is Portoros is the largest sandy beaches in the Coast. It is clean & a whole lot of activities can be done here. Leave a Comment Directions: Around Portoroz.

Walking is one of the best ways to get to know a place & that's what I did.
Walking along to the north of Portoroz offers some good sceneries albeit full of high rise hotels.
