Gostilnica (the inn) Puccini is situated in the very heart of the old core of Celje, in the Tomsicev trg. It has nice interiors and prefect terrace with the view. Here you can enjoy in Italian slow food; fine salad's, spaghetti, lasagne, pizza and all kind of pasta's.

If you want to get really down and dirty with the chocolate, this place provides its finest. This is nothing of an ordinary and I just keep on wondering how can that kind of place survive in a small town like Velenje, but I guess the answer is easy - once you've tried their products, you are hooked, doomed, they just put a spell on you. This is a chocolate, that can be compared with finest Belgium chocolate. Coming from the little town myself, I was able to find out that the owner attends regular education in the field, has been in Barcelona, Bordeaux and Argentina (where he actually wanted to open a chocolate boutique or cafeteria, but changed his mind and brought pleasure to all of people in Slovenia, able to visit Velenje). You are very wrong if you think I am a chocoholic myself: I am extremely picky with chocolate. I can stop eating ordinary milk chocolate ANY TIME. I like Godiva...
After several years, I have re-visited this place (I used to recommend it). What a catastrophe! It is NOTHING it was years ago. Please, avoid if possible! My heart is broken. This used to be the best place I had been eating in. Now it turned out into ordinary tourist trap, overcrowded, with horrible food.
A very good restaurant, not too espensive.The Slovenian food is really good. You can taste wild boar, venison and some others hunting meats.Also you can find others restaurants around the centre of the town. Venison with mushrooms and roast potatoes.
On this trip we detected two good restaurants with good kitchen and reasonably priced according to the location and the dishes offered. The one is a Bosnian resturant in Ljubljana, named Sofra (you find it on Oja's page), the other is the leading restaurant in the centre of Kobarid at the Soca river at the Southern slope of the Julian Alps. Its name is Topli val. 'Topli val' in Kobarid serves delicious trouts which they claim to be right from the Soca river (at least they were probably grown up in water from the Soca running through the basins where the trouts were fed). I liked the preparaton 'alla Triestina' with parsley and garlic. Igor liked their crayfish soup.
In castle Otocec restaurant you can try local dishes from Slovenia. Selection of food and drinks are nice and carefully prepared. Ambience is great, 'cause restaurant is settled in atrium of the castle. The Otocec castle is on an island in the Krka River which is great ambience. If you traveled to Ljubljana from Serbia or Croatia or on reverse, you cannot miss this restaurant to enjoy in food, drink and nature. All local dishes (local prsut and cheeses), especially with desert at the end (gibanica and cheese cake).
the food in this restaurant was fantastic, we sat down and when the waiter came we ordered meatballs, you order veg and potatoes sepratly so i ordered roast potatoes and my husband ordered chips when they came we had a huge shock as you were given a basket full of spuds each and the meatballs were 8 large meatballs the food is fantastic and the price great, for two lots meatballs and two lots of potatoes and a basket of fresh baked bread it cost 14 euros. which is £9.80 english. for two people.the place is full of locals which says to me that if it is good enough for them then we will like it as it says a lot when the local people go piling in to a place to eat. meatballs with roast potatoes
You can sit outside and eat either delicious sweet dishes (try the blueberry pancakes) or choose starters or main dishes from the rich menu. Beautiful view on Lake Bohinj, the stone bridge and the Sv. Janez church in Ribcev Laz, if you sit outside.
Along the bathing area are loads of seafront restaurants and because Piran is a very popular place and because they all line the seafront, these places are not cheap. I came to this one as I think it was a cheaper option and had lunch but I can’t now remember what I ate! Obviously the menu is heavy on seafood such as Dorade, Bass, Sole (all for 8,000SIT), Lobster (14,000SIT!), Scampi (3,300SIT) and Squid (1,500SIT). They also do meat dishes such as escallops, rump steaks and mixed grills.
