What's a burek?
Guidebooks say you need to try eating a burek when you go to Slovenia. What's a burek, I wondered? A burek turned out to be flaky pastry rolled into a long sausage with some filling inside. The sausage-type roll then gets circled around itself in a spiral.Bureks are fast food: they're about as nutritious and about as tasty as something like Burger King or McDonalds -- i.e. not that nice, really. Good if you're hungry and you want to grab something quickly, but not something you'd really enjoy.The three usual types of fillings are Sirov Burek (cottage cheese filling), Mesni Burek (mince meat), and Pizza Burek, but some burek stands sell other types too.
