Camping Smlednik is also part of a nudist area/community in this part of Slovenia.
It has an area of their own, by the river.
In the morning, I went to the river where the fog was still clearly visible & some nudists with their children were just going up to do their chores.
The photo shows the river & you can see the fog like thing on the river surface.
It was chilly allright. I could never understand how those people could survive the chilly air without any stitch on their bodies !

It is about 17 km away from Ljubljana. Come here if you want to have some of the ruralness in Slovenia.
You can see from the map, marked red dot, big red dot, in case you miss it.
Ask at the bus station in Ljubljana before taking the bus going there & if possible, ask when you could get the bus back to the city if you feel that hitch-hike is not really your cup of tea.

I arrived in Smlednik not just because I couldn't find a place to sleep in Ljubljana but also I want to see a bit of rural Slovenia.
Smlednik would offer you just that ! Beautiful countryside sceneries all around...
Definitely worth a day trip from the Ljubljana not just because you couldn't find a place to sleep there.
Walk around this beautiful small town, get to know people, talk to people.
You could even hitch-hike back to the capital (DEFINITELY APPROVED BY THE LOCALS) because the buses are really scarce !

I reached Smlednik by bus from Ljubljana. It is about 17 km from the capital of Slovenia.
If you have your own transport, it would be much better. The public trasports are scarce to/from the capital.
Hitch-hike is a good & possible way if you want to be adventurous.

Nevertheless I also have to mention here that buses back to Ljubljana are scarce. Maybe 2 or 3 buses per day & the time tables are not reliable.
Do hitch-hike 'cos that's what I did ! It is safe. Take the usual precautions.

Up to date market shop Cekin on the site provides guests with food and drinks for camping and barbecues. This restaurant cum shop is situated in Camping Smlednik but there are of course a few shops & restaurants in the village Smlednik itself. Ask people as you walk around the village. Slovenes speak very good English & you don't feel that you are from another planet !

Just a warning that public transport back to Ljubljana are scarce. Like 2 or 3 buses per day only. One in the morning & one in the early evening. No good huh ?
That would give you a chance to hitch-hike ! It's safe 'cos in Slovenia, everubody seems to do that !

Fondest memory: My sweet memory in Smlednik is not sleeping on the bench the previous night, I wish it would be more comfortable. Ha ! Ha ! Ha !
So, the memory would be walking around the small village the morning after. The air was so clean & clear. I felt good walking, watching the rural houses, the hills surrounded the village & the people going out doing their everyday chores.
The day was just beginning to start on that day for them.
