Find out if the huts are open!!!!

by FRONA Updated Nov 28, 2003

    4 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: I love Triglav in the summer time since all the huts are open. I wanted to go next week (end of November) but found out nothing is open on the way! There are possibilities for celebrating New Year there but the grups need to be at least 20 people! FInd out what is open on this site:

Fondest memory: My fondest memory is peace and remoteness of this beautiful mountain.

Julian Alps - Mt. Triglav the pride of Slovenia

    by Martin_S. Written Dec 26, 2003

    4 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: The peak of Mt. Triglav in the Slovenian Alps (Julian Alps) is most respectably the pride of Slovenia. It is said that you are not a "true" Slovenian till you have placed your mark upon its peak. It is not a mountain that you "conquer", but rather on you visit in respect. As you can see in this picture, Triglav waits for anyone who cares to come and "visit" and pay their respects.

Triglav - The peaks and valleys

    by Martin_S. Written Dec 26, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: The road between Kranska-Gora and Trenta reaches a high point as it passes over a saddle in the mountain and as you look down toward Trenta, this is the view that greets you. You can see all the lower peaks covered in green while the higher peaks stand naked in all their stony glory.

    Triglav park, the Soca River

    by Martin_S. Written Nov 26, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: There are several rivers in, near or originating in Triglav park, this is the Soca and on its lower reaches is good for rafting and kyaking. Here higher up in the mountains on the road between Kranska-Gora and Trenta, it is just an infant, starting on its way downhill.

Triglav - mountain hut for hikers

    by Martin_S. Written Dec 26, 2003

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: Scattered along the many trails in the Triglav National Park there is a series of mountain huts that can be used when you are hiking the high trails. Many of them can only be reached by foot, unlike this one in the picture which is just off the Kranska-Gora/Trenta road. The resupply of food and feul to those isolated huts is done by people on foot with donekys.

Favorite thing: Close to Zasavska koca on Prehodavci, there is Brown Lake, about 150 m long and 100 m wide. and 10 m deep. In summer a three meter wide brown belt appears around the reduced lake, from which it gets its name. Seen from height it appears as a real brown pool, but the water is perfectly clear.

    Marked paths

by Glorija Updated Jun 12, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: When going to hike in Triglav National Park you will be suprised how well the paths are marked. So you just need to follow them and it is almost impossible to get lost. The trails themselves are often marked with the white/red colours as on the picture.

But always - be carefull and take care!

Fondest memory: There are many walks and hikes that can be enjoyed in Triglav Nacional Park. Depends if you want a nice, easy walk or if you are more experienced hiker. For me the best are the views! They are spectacular and the flora changes as you hike. Yes I must admit we have one very nice country :)

My 2 days path - Slap Savica (Waterfall Savica is one of the most famous and popular waterfalls in Slovenia and it is also a spring. Access: from Bohinj lake) ... Sedmera Jezera (The Triglav Lakes Valley) ... Komna ... Bohinj lake

Hiking on marked path Marks really everywhere
