    Horseriding in Spain

    Indira and Victor.

Everyone in Almogia seems to have a horse.
    Or two.
    Or a whole herd.

A local riding school Llanos de la Venta offers riding lessons to anyone from the walking age to the age you can still walk.
    Or sit.

    Viva la fiesta!

    Viva la fiesta!

Romeria - pilgrimage - of San Isidro the labourer brings Almogia's working life to a halt around the 15th of May...

Virtually every family decorates their horse cart or a carriage, or even a car.

There is a competition for the best decorated vehicle.

This general fiesta madness lasts about 3-4 days.
The village dresses up in their folk costumes, grab a bottle of something stiff, sit their decorated kids on their decorated horses, ponies and carts and they take off on foot, following the statue of St Isidro through the village , past the village, hills and hairpin bends into the open countryside, where they join in horseriding competitions, cay pidgeon shooting, kiddies spend the money of the parents on the merry-go-round rides offered by the gypsy nomads, music blares out from the bars and eateries set up in the tents, groups play, singers sing, horses poop whilst patiently waiting for their inebriated lords and on Sunday night everything ends with Saint Isidro returning home to Almogia.

A substantial livestock fair is held in Almogia prior to the Romeria fair, usually on Fridays, Saturdays.

Rockpool diving with kids in Almogia

    Wow.

    An unbelievable place to find.

The water spouts out from in between the stones and fills the rock basin.

Beyond are two or three further pools with rocky beaches.

There are fish of various sizes swimming in the pools, the water stays in even the hottest of the summers.

Great and safe fun for the family with children!
