Ristorante Da Fano - Italian restaurant.: Excellent ravioli by the marina.
Ristorante Da Fano is an Italian pizzeria/trattoria by the marina of Benalmádena. It is a lovely restaurant with both inside and outside seating with a view of the marina. We chose to sit outside. The service was very good, the food was good, the weather was good so all in all it made for a perfect evening.
Favorite Dish: The dish ordered was ravioli, speciality of the house, with eggplant, bacon and black olives. It was juicy and had strong and rich flavour and was very tasteful. Very often pasta in Spain lacks flavour, but this ravioli was excellent.
The ravioli was 9.50 Euros, Caffe espresso 2 Euros and Coca Cola was 2 Euros (2008).
JACKS in Puerto Marina.: A beautiful view from an American restaurant.
JACKS is an American restaurant with ribs, steaks, burgers etc., but we opted for the fajitas, which is mixed meat served on flour tortilla. They were excellent, everything was up to par, excellent service and the ambiance was fantastic with the view of the Puerto Marina. I didn´t want to leave as I enjoy Puerto Marina so much. But eventually we were the last guests at the restaurant and the staff had started cleaning...
Sakura.: A classy Japanese restaurant in Puerto Marina.
I love Japanese restaurants and all things Japanese. So I was very excited about trying the vegetable tempura at Sakura. We read the menu outside by the entrance and asked the waiter if there were eggs in the tempura batter - as I am extremely allergic to eggs. He said no and I asked again if he was sure, again "no eggs" so I ordered the vegetable tempura. When it came I couldn't believe how beautiful it was, Japanese food is the most beautifully made food I have ever eaten. But the tempura tasted funny (eggs) and I only tasted a small bite and got allergies. This can be so dangerous and it turned out that the waiter at the entrance only spoke very little English and didn´t understand my question. The waiters were extremely helpful and apologetic and I couldn´t hold it against them, but double-check with other waiters and have them ask the chef if you are allergic, especially if you have allergic children.
Apart from this incidence then this restaurant is so beautiful, the harmony in Japanese restaurants outmatches everything I have seen so far. And the view over Puerto Marina was the cherry on the cake. It is open from 12-24 so you can enjoy the view both during the day and at night and it is equally enchanting. I do recommend this place.
Sunsets, Benalmadena, nr windmill roundabout: A great bar with great food and friendly owners
Pop in and see Ken and Wendy at Sunsets and you won't be dissappointed. Near the windmill roundabout and right next door to the mini golf in Benalmadena, their restaurant/bar has great views over Benal Beach. Wendy's cooking is not only hearty and tasty, it is great value for money!

The Blue Lamp: The Blue Lamp; a rare gem worth finding!
We live on the Costa and the Blue Lamp is by far our favourite restaurant, we visit at least once a week. It's got a fantastic menu, and how do they do their 3 course menu of the day for under €10? with 11 starters, 16 main courses and 7 desserts. Each one has tastes that are superb - real proper restaurant quality. Everything home made (including sauces, pate - very unusual). Real fresh veg. and proper potatoes. This would cost £50+ in London!. A la carte menu is brilliant too.
Favorite Dish: Everything is delicious but we can definitely recommend the following dishes:
Starter: fried Mushrooms with Garlic dip and fresh Chicken Goujons
Main course: Cajun Chickenbreast and Homemade Boeuf Borguignonne
Dessert: Homemade applecrumble with custard and Homemade Trifle.

There are several Restaurants...
There are several Restaurants of all diversities in Benalmadena. There's a great Indian called the Noor Mahal which we tried, when they say Madras hot they mean MADRAS HOT!!
There are several fish restaurants along the sea front just down from the Windmill Island which are very good. But best of all for value are the Chinese restaurants which are ridicoulously cheap, you can get a set meal for one for 3.9 euros (£2.50) which has 4 courses and a complimentary drink! However the quality of the food is very good, better than the UK. There are all sorts of Italian/American/Spanish restaurants by the Marina and more traditional Spanish Tapas bars in Arroyo. Full English Breakfasts are available from several beach side cafes for 2.10 euros, (£1.36) again great value

Taberna Tita Yoli: Excellent tapas lunch in Arroyo de la Miel
My girlfriend and I ate lunch at Taberna Tita Yoli during a weekend visit to the Costa del Sol in February 2011.
In the week leading up to our visit, I had been having serious cravings for tapas and in particular local cheeses, Spanish hams and glasses of chilled sherry.
A work colleague had recommended the village of Arroyo de la Miel as a great place to enjoy authentic local food, away from the more touristy coastal resorts of nearby Benalmadena and Torremolinos. With this in mind, no sooner had we checked into our hotel in Torremolinos than we were on a train for the short journey to Arroyo de la Miel.
After a short walk around the village, we decided to look for somewhere to eat lunch. We headed off the main street and wandered through the small side streets looking for an authentic place to satisfy my now overpowering tapas craving! On one of these small side streets, Calle Agua, just 5 minutes walk from the train station, we stumbled across Taberna Tita Yoli.
A small group of local policemen had just finished their lunch when we arrived and there were no other diners, so we had the place to ourselves. The walls were decorated with old black and white photos (maybe of family and friends of the owners, or local residents of the village), colourful decorations (including a guitar, flowers and various trinkets) decorated the wall behind the bar and large wooden wine barrels, which may double up as tables at busier times, were dotted around the dining room and outside on the pavement.
The menu was wholly in Spanish (I'd have been disappointed if it hadn't been!), but with the assistance of the helpful waitress (who was able to partially translate) and the food glossary in our guidebook we managed to decipher most of the items on the menu.
The waitress took our drinks order (a glass of sherry for me and a glass of pineapple juice for Emma) and delivered them to our table with a selection of tapas. I'm not sure whether these were complimentary or included in a cover charge, but they were a welcome snack as we studied the menu and decided what to order. These opening tapas treats included:
a bowl of green olives – some of the tastiest and juiciest olives that I've ever tasted. We soon finished off the whole bowl!
2 slices of Queso Manchego – a tasty sheep's milk cheese from the La Mancha region of Spain.
bread and chorizo – two slices of crusty bread topped with chorizo sausage meat. Accompanied by two mini breadsticks.
The cheese and chorizo had reinforced my tapas craving and we were now ready to order. The waitress alerted us to a small list of specials that weren't on the standard menu and did her best to explain in English what they were.
We ordered the following dishes:
Queso Manchego and Jamon Serrano.
This was the cheese and ham that I had been craving so much...and it didn't disappoint! 6 slices of Manchego cheese on one half of the plate and a generous portion of thinly sliced and wonderfully tasty Serrano ham on the other half!
Dozens of small meatballs in a slightly spicy sauce, accompanied by a portion of very salty patatas fritas. The patatas fritas were more reminiscent of Belgian frites than British chips or American fries.
Pollo al Ajillo.
Selected from the specials board; tender pieces of chicken in a deceptively tasty garlic sauce. You could barely see the sauce...but you could certainly taste it...and it was lovely! This was probably the highlight of the meal for me. As with the meatballs, this dish came accompanied by a portion of patatas fritas.
As well as the dishes we ordered, we received a basket of sliced crusty bread and a packet of mini breadsticks.
We still had a little room for desserts (priced at 2.00 Euros each), so we ordered:
Flan (a Spanish version of creme caramel) and Natillas (similar in appearance to the flan, but with a sweet custard taste and a biscuit topping) – both were served cold and were delicious!
Our total bill, including a good selection of tapas, desserts and drinks, came to somewhere between 20 and 25 Euros which we thought was very good value for a most enjoyable lunch!
A great place for authentic tapas dishes in the village of Arroyo de la Miel. Highly recommended!
Rincon de la Paquita: Excellent traditional Spanish tapas restaurant
We stumbled across this little gem during our May 2012 stay in Benalmadena Spain and we must say we were extremely impressed with the Rincon de la Paquita! This bar restaurant is a family run business, run by a lovely local Spanish couple. The lady also speaks English as well as Spanish which is a very strong bonus in a town where most speak Spanish. We found the staff to be very welcoming, friendly and the service to be of excellent quality.
Unlike many other Tapas bars we came across in Arroyo de la Miel Benalmadena, this place serves absolutely delicious traditional authentic Spanish tapas and at excellent prices! The drinks are also very well priced. The Rincon de la Paquita is located in a convenient quiet little side street called Calle Cauce in Arroyo de la Miel, Benalmadena but close to all the main shops and transport. It is open all day and also in the evenings, so they don’t close for siesta. We regularly ate there and thoroughly recommend their fantastic quality food as they have an excellent chef! The atmosphere was always relaxed and friendly.
Overall, a wonderful place to unwind, relax and taste a real taste of Spain after a busy day of sightseeing and shopping. We rate it 5 stars + ! Review by Elly and Paul.

School of Catering at Hotel Fonda: Lunch in such fine surroundings at
Excellent lunch venue. Must be booked in advance, well in advance in the summer months of July and August. Although we had difficulty in October.
The waitering staff, sommelier and chefs are all students at the school and you are their guinea pigs.....
Menu differs by the day and week.
Favorite Dish: The menu is set for the students to work on and so you have what there is on offer....

Xi Lai Bao: Unbelievable value!
This place is really good, and popular, it is just down the road from Bonanza Square. There are many good and inexpensive chinese retaurants in Benalmadena but the food here is really nice too. 4 courses for 4 euros from the set special Menu! Starter/Main Course/Rice dish/Coffee or Ice Cream, plus a complementary drink at the end :) Also there are individual dishes and set menus for 2 (13 Euros) and a menu for children.
Favorite Dish: The Hot and Sour Soup is really nice

Restaurante el Balcon is owned by Escuela de Hosteleria, (School of Catering) serving Mediterranean and Castilian cuisine open for lunch only from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. on Monday to Friday. The service at the restaurant is provided by students, overseen by instructors who keep a close watch and step in to provide assistance when needed. Many of the meals are prepared at table-side and you usually need to book ahead.
The cocktail bar is lovely too with perfect service.
Dress up for lunch and enjoy the fine food.
This restaurant has a reputation of being one of the finest in the region.

Longhorn del Sol: Best meat from Galicia
In Benalmadena Pueblo has opened a beautiful steak and burger restaurant, with a lovelyrivate terrasse with lemon and orange trees and a nice service.
Favorite Dish: Rib - Eye and sirloin on bone at his best, but also very nice salads and desserts. The meat is coming from northern Spain and is worldwide respected to be the best of its kind.

La Barca: Good... a little bit pricey
One of the many restaurants in Paseo Maritimo, close to the marina. It's similar to his neighbours, however it seemed a little bit more expensive than the other, for identical service and quality.
Nothing to remember nor to complaint.

Ole: The same, maybe better
The menu of the several restaurants in this specific part of Paseo marítimo is very similar, and the quality is not very different too. In this restaurant, we ate the normal Spanish food, maybe a little more tasteful than in many neighbours and a little bit cheaper.
