For those who enjoy exercising the credit card, you will find Benalmadena a bit of a disappointment. There are shops in the Marina and some in Arroyo, but if you really want to shop, then go to Fuengirola or Torremolinos are better as both towns are much more commercial.
If you have a car then you could drive to Málaga - there are 3 shopping centres in the city: Rosaleda, Larios (also called Eroski-centre) and Vialia (train station). Halfway before arriving in Malaga is the outdoor mall: Plaza Mayor - which has 2 different commercial areas.
On the edge of Torremolinos there is a mini shopping centre along with Carrefour (maybe 15 stores along with the hypermarket).
In the opposite direction there is the Miramar shopping centre at the far end of Fuengirola by the castle.
And further along the coast you have Andalucía's largest shopping centre: La Cañada just off the motorway as you arrive in Marbella.
What to buy: In Benalmadena you will find a lovely selection of alcohol, cigarettes, beach towels, shoes and other tourist stuff. Prices can be reasonable, but some items can be very over priced.
