    El Faro restaurant

Gonzalo Cordoba's reputed favourite restaurant located in a fishing quarter, which justly deserves its reputation as being the top restaurant in the province. On the outside it's one of many low white houses decorated with bright blue flowerpots, but once inside, the decor is inviting and cosy with tiled walls, oil paintings and black and white photos of old Cadiz. Hams hang from the ceiling of the the bar and the counter is piled high with oranges. Seafood dominates the menu, but there are plenty of alternatives, such as venison in blue ceese sauce.

We got ripped off at this prestigious restaurant. Planned a special dinner days ago, visiting their webpage and studying the elaborate "tasting menus". When we got to the restaurant and gleefully ordered menu number 2, we were informed that the tasting menus are only for groups of fifteen or more, even though the web makes no mention of this.

The head waiter said not to worry, that he would bring us a succession of the house specialties and we would not be disappointed. "Disappointment" would be an understatement. The food was worse than ordinary, both in taste and presentation, and the main dish could not have been more boring.

We received a bill to knock your socks off, in exchange for having a special occasion irreversably spoiled.

I for one will not return to this joint.

Favorite Dish: Everything was as boring as a piece of clay, both in taste and presentation.

El Faro is a reputed favourite restaurant located in a fishing quarter. Seafood dominates the menu, but there are plenty of alternatives. Pescados a la sal is the most famous menu. It is the top restaurant in the province.

Favorite Dish: Pescados a la sal. And in the tapa bars you can taste all the delicious tapas they serve.

EL FARO just try the cheese ice cream, or .... well all the desserts are brilliant.

The prices are a little expensive as it is high cuisine!, But it deserves, another speciality in desserts is the Chocolate tart with orange sauce.

Try the seafood salad, the camarones omelette, marinated anchovies salt with green asparagus ......... or just have some tapas in the adyacent bar
