Alameda de Apodaca
This nice park at the seaside is one of the most pleasant experiences when you walk around Cadiz. Built by the sea facing the old city walls, you can see the fishermen at work and the children playing around.
I used to play here in my childhood, as I lived very near, in the Buenos Aires street. I remember specially 2 giant trees (ficus) that were fantastic trees for us, we used to hide amongst their huge roots and palyed battles throwing each other its "bomb shaped" seeds...

Cadiz sits on a spit of land which is subject to the rage of the sea and from foreign ships. Along the coast walls have been built with fortifications for defense of the city. There is also a buffer of parkland between the coastal walls and the buildings which is where you will find shady parks. These parks offer a place out of the sunlight to relax.
Respite from the Sun
Alameda de Apodaca is the first park you will come to if walking the perimeter of Cadiz from the port. It offers fountains, trees, and areas for repose. I have included several photos in this tip to show this park which is a buffer between the sea and the city. In this park you will see the incredible ficus trees which bear figs. These trees are monsters, huge agound.
Going all over the fortified walls of Cadiz you will find this park that has 2 old ficus (incredible big) the other two are close to La Caleta beach.
It is a nice park for a walk
Vamos paseando desde Puerta tierra por el paseo y nos encontramos estos jardines, donde están dos de los ficus mas antiguos (mastodontes ficus hehehe) los otros dos están detrás del balneario de la Caleta.
