There are several modern fountains and pieces of sculpture across the town, giving it a better appearance. One of the newest sculptures is one devoted to the tourists.

We took a drive up into the hills behind Estepona and came across Casares: a beautiful little village set into the moutainside with spectacular views.

Just outside the village is a huge wind farm which is equally as spectacular.

A day trip to Gibraltar is quite exiting. Visiting this little bit of England removed by hundreds of miles from the Island is quite interesting. The money you use here is British Pounds and you can have your authentic English fish and chips to eat here.

A day visit to the town of Ronda is also a nice excursion. Rent a car and drive their the scenery along the way is lovely. It is also the town with the oldest bullring in Spain and do not miss the bullfight museum underneath the seats at the far end of the bullring

When you do the day trip to Tangier, Marocco, please be prepared for a culture shock. Not one of my favorite destinations, but at the time we all thought it would be a great idea to visit the north of Africa as we come from the South. Pleased I was born in the South though. Here we are waiting to board the ferry to take us across to Marrocco

A winding road between Estepona and Sotogrande, takes you inland and up to the beautiful traditional white village of village of Casares. The village is in the natural surroundings of the Sierra Bermeja and is excellent for walkers. It is an ecological paradise where you can enjoy nature at its best. Named 'the dangling village' as the little houses apper to just dangle on the hillside, Casrares has been declared a "historical artistic village" due to the Arab castle that sits at the top of the village. Thre is much in teh way of historical intrest for those who are intrested, with Roman, Phoenician, Iberian settlers who have left their stamp.

Take exit 153 at Estepona’s Industrial Estate and then the main dual carriageway, the ‘Nacional’ 340 to Algeciras as far as km. 146 where you come to an intersection with the local Casares dual carriageway, the MA-546, leading up 14 kms. to the village.
