Los Arcos: Salty and took ages for food to arrive

    by samprice11 Written Jun 25, 2009

Located right next to the beach at the north end of the promenade in Playa Laguna. Food was OK but very salty. Also it took ages for it to arrive (not good when you have 2 hungry kids waiting!). Also everyones dishes arrived in dribs and drabs over the space of about 25 minutes so that was annoying as some of us had finshed as others were just starting! Lots of traditional local dishes though so maybe worth a go if there are just a small party of 2 of you.

Favorite Dish: Everything was too salty for me really.

La "something" (sorry can't remember exactly!): Good fish restaurant in Playa Laguna

    by samprice11 Written Jun 25, 2009

Resaturant is located at the north end of the promenade in Playa Laguna next to several other little bars and restaurants (Millionaires and Los Arcos being 2 of them). It's a little more expensive than usual but the fish dishes are great (Highly recommend the sole!) Great location just opposite the beach so good for lunch.

Favorite Dish: The Sole followed by profitteroles

Millionaire Bar and Cafe: Cheap and cheerful, great food for kids

    by samprice11 Updated Jun 25, 2009

English sports bar and restaurant. Good varied menu that's great for kids. Serving food from Balti curries to toasties and full english fry ups. My kids struggle to find things on most menus in Spain that they like (apart for Spagetti bolognese or omlettes that appears everywhere) so it was nice to go here so they can have cheese toasties, crumpets, etc. The curry is also very good from here and they do a good selection of salads and jacket potatoes as well. Good location right next to the beach. Also I highly recommend their desserts: they serve superb apple crumble and custard and also a great pudding called "toffee lumpy bumpy".
They also have free Wi-Fi. Nice place to go in the evening for a beer or two.

Favorite Dish: Full English breakfast followed by toffee lumpy bumpy cake

Pizzeria Mary: Superb Italian food and service

    by samprice11 Updated Jun 25, 2009

This was one of my families favorite restaurants to go to when in Garrucha town. It's located on the sea front about half way along the beach. The woman that runs it (Mary) and her team are fantastic. The service is second to none. The food is also very good. They do pizzas (the best I've had outside of Italy!), salads and pasta dishes all of which are great. They are also a very familiy friendly place which was nice. Great place, highly recommended.
    Opening times:
    1st april - 15th Sept: 1200 - 1600 and 1900 - 0100
    16th Sept - 31st March: 1200 - 1600 and 1900 - 0000

They also offer a take away service.

Favorite Dish: BBQ chicken pizza or Spaghitti Bolognese

Golden Amrisar: One of the best indian restaurants I've been to

    by samprice11 Written Jun 25, 2009

Excellent restaurant ran by an English woman and her husband (who's from the Punjab region of India). The food was suberb and was the service. The Onion bahjees were probably the best I have ever had (and I've had quite few over the years!). Located about half a mile off the beach in Pueblo Laguna. Even if you're staying in Garrucha I would say it's worth getting the bus (get off at Playa laguna stop) or make a special journey and drive to this place it's that good! Prices are resonable as well (starters around 4Euros each and main courses approx. 8Euros) Also, I would say that one rich dish between two people is easily enough. I would also highly recommend their Sangria - I know it's corny and typically touristy but it is very good here :~) They also do a take away service.
    Opening hours:
    Mon - Thurs: 1pm - 4pm, 6pm - midnight
    Fri - Sun: 1pm - midnight

Favorite Dish: Onion Bahjee - the best I've ever eaten!
