New aqua park situated close to Vera beach (approx 5 miles from Garrucha). You can easily get to it by car or local bus service (ask at a local tourist info for bus times).Nice park with about 8 slides and 3 pools. Be aware though, that if your kids are less than 1m10cm in height (or not confident swimmers) they can only use 2 of the slides (the...more
Mojacar old town is only 8 or 9 miles from Garrucha / Pueblo Laguna. It can be easily reached by car and there is a regular bus service that can also get you there for around 2Euros. Typical white walled spanish hill top town about 1 mile inland from the coast. Very steep hills so please beware if you are going there with elderly or young children...more
We went to the Harbour not knowing it was a Local Holday - Andalucia Day, 28 February. That explained why everyone looked so smart including these children who clustered around the Artist . They were almost breathless with excitement as they saw the ship - which must have ben a very familiar sight to them- appear on her painting pad.Behind them...more
Located right next to the beach at the north end of the promenade in Playa Laguna. Food was OK but very salty. Also it took ages for it to arrive (not good when you have 2 hungry kids waiting!). Also everyones dishes arrived in dribs and drabs over the space of about 25 minutes so that was annoying as some of us had finshed as others were just...more
Resaturant is located at the north end of the promenade in Playa Laguna next to several other little bars and restaurants (Millionaires and Los Arcos being 2 of them). It's a little more expensive than usual but the fish dishes are great (Highly recommend the sole!) Great location just opposite the beach so good for lunch. The Sole followed by...more
English sports bar and restaurant. Good varied menu that's great for kids. Serving food from Balti curries to toasties and full english fry ups. My kids struggle to find things on most menus in Spain that they like (apart for Spagetti bolognese or omlettes that appears everywhere) so it was nice to go here so they can have cheese toasties,...more
The local bus service in the area is superb. They use new air conditioned coaches, are very cheap and are usually on time. The most I paid on any journey was 1.10Euros! They can get you as far away as Vera (and the aqua park) in one direction and Mojacar beaches in the other. Check with your hotel or tourist information office for a timetable.
Try to avoid the excursions offered locally as they cost a forture. For example, the local "mini hollywood" cowboy park costs around 20Euros entry but on an excursion they are charging around 60Euros for transport and entry. i.e. 40Euros for a coach to get you there each! If you are a family this would cost you nearly 200Euros for a day out! It's much cheaper to pre-book a hire car to go there for the day and then pay entry rather than go on the excursion.
