Antigua Bodega Castaneda: Relax and taste the local grub
We stayed in Granada for 2 nights and ate/drank at Antigua Bodega Castaneda both nights.
The tapas was cheap and delicious, the beer cold and the local wine most drinkable!
Favorite Dish: Tapas - Can't remember exactly what we ate, but it was good enough to go back for more of the same the next night!

BODEGAS CASTAÑEDA: It was our regular Thursday night starting point!
There is a bit of confusion as there is a 'sister' restaurant nearby which does sit-down meals and is a bit touristy. You'll know you in the real one if there is a long bar with huge oak casks on the walls.
Waiters are patient, tapas is OK (recommend cheese board racione), atmosphere always excellent, usually standing room only (there aren't many tables anyway)
Their famous 'calicasas' (a mix of local wines and vermouth)should be sampled!!
BODEGAS CASTAÑEDA: Good tapas?
Its an old bar with few tables in Almacena, just near Plazza Nueva...
But we were disapointed by the taste of many plates, wich are not so good than the other places intown.
And a little more expansive too.
BODEGAS CASTAÑEDA: wonderful!
it's wonderful! full of local peopla, you almost can't enter the place! if you are lucky you sit, bit... usually you est standind up.
great food, verrrrrrry cheap, great tortilla!
be careful... in the streets arond there are many places callde "new bodega cassteneda" "olde bodega castaneta" ancient bodega casteneda" ... they "use" the name of the REAL one to "take" tourists ;-)
the REAL BODEGA castaneda is in calle Almireceros 1-3 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Favorite Dish: tortilla
BODEGAS CASTAÑEDA: Free Tapas
Granada is great in that if you go to a bar that has a kitchen and order a drink, you'll get a free tapa. Order another drink and you get a different tapa...free as well! Bodega Castaneda is one of the many tapas bars along the Calle de Elvira corridor just off the Plaza Nueva. Try to go a bit early (before noon) or later (after 1:00 or 1:30) so you can get a spot a the bar and better attention from the men behind the counter. They are usually much more friendly and willing to deal with your broken Spanish in such situations. The other patrons were very friendly as well and we had a great time. I would highly recommend checking this place out!
Favorite Dish: We got a sausage and rice dish as our free tapa. We also ordered a plate of yummy chorizo.
BODEGAS CASTAÑEDA: Free Tapas
If you sit at the bar and order Sangria you get a free order of tapas. We had so much fun we ordered several of the tapas and tried them out.
Favorite Dish: Lomo a la planch con quesa (loin w/cheese) and dont forget the sangria
